Six years ago, at the age of 35, I got a much needed 'mommy makeover' (breast augmentation/lift and tummy tuck/muscle repair) after the birth of my second child left me with a ton of excess skin around my middle. To be honest, I have never had 'nice breasts' - they were always saggy and low. But after being stretched out from a 'C' to a 'G' during my two pregnancies and back to a 'B', they were very sad and droopy. Initially, I only wanted a lift - the idea of implants was something I associated with Baywatch models and movie stars - but my doctor insisted I would not get the 'aesthetic I was looking for' with just a lift, since I had very little breast tissue left. I don't blame my doctor - he didn't force me to do anything - I just couldn't know what the outcome would be before it actually happened!

I got 350CC silicone implanst and wound up being a C-D cup, depending on the bra or my time of the month. Although I felt I looked a LOT better than what I had before (and my husband loved them), they always felt too big for my petite frame (I am 5'3.5" and small-boned.) In fact, I spent the next six years hiding them, wearing minimizer bras and clothing designed to keep them as innocuous as possible. Meanwhile, time (and gravity) marched on, and they began to sag again. They no longer felt as perky as they did initially and instead just looked like regular, droopy but large breasts. I also began to feel more strongly that it was time to get them out. I knew they wouldn't last forever, and the idea of having to replace them on a somewhat regular basis into my old age seemed silly. They just didn't fit with who I am and how I wanted to look and feel anymore. Although my husband was supportive, I knew he was disappointed to see them go!

The surgeon who initially did my BA and TT had moved on from plastic surgery. I had a couple of consultations before I decided on Dr. Adam Tattelbaum as my new surgeon. Even before I met him in person, I could tell from his web site that I would appreciate his honest and realistic approach to plastic surgery expectations and the recovery process. He is thorough and conservative and does not over-promise on how he'll be able to reshape your body. I brought in a list of questions each time I saw him and he took the time to answer every one. His whole team is great.

I had my surgery at a surgical center (which was such an easier and quicker process than the hospital) and had no problems coming out of anesthesia or with my first week of recovery. Very little pain - just some itchiness from the surgical tape which stays on the first week. So far I love my tiny Frankenstein boobs! They really make me feel younger and thinner and fit my frame so much better - I really should have done just a lift six years ago!

I can post pictures at some point if people are interested - after I do a little more healing!

Even before I met Dr. Tattelbaum in person, I could tell from his web site that I would appreciate his honest and realistic approach to plastic surgery expectations and the recovery process. He is thorough and conservative and does not over-promise on how he'll be able to reshape your body. His whole team is great, the surgery center is state of the art, yet comfortable. If I ever need any other surgery, I will be happy to return to Dr. Tattelbaum.
