I had saline implant surgery in 1999. I was 39 at the time, and had been flat chested all of my life. As an underdeveloped teen, my father and uncle teased me about my small breast size. This made me feel hugely inadequate and ashamed of my small size. At 39, I finally did it. I got my saline implants (under the muscle). 3 days after I had my implants, I was in extreme pain that was unrelenting. We called my surgeon, and he met us at the emergency room. My right breast was bleeding internally, and the dr. had to cauterize the veins and insert a new implant. My breasts hurt for a year. I was put on Neurontin for nerve pain. After the 1 year mark, I felt ok. My breast were still very sensitive, but I did not have the nerve pain any longer.
In 2005, I began experiencing right side pain just under my rib cage. Over an 8 year period, I went to several different doctors including naturopaths, and tried everything to find a diagnosis to no avail. The pain and frustration became so severe that I seriously considered suicide in 2010. My boss actually held an intervention with a couple of other trusted dept. heads, and through that process I was referred to a psychiatrist who specialized in treating individuals suffering pain related depression. I was put on an anti-depressant, which helped to alleviate my depression, but the physical pain continued. I had every test known to man. I've had 2 surgeries as a result. My gallbladder was removed in 2007...pain continued. In 2012, I had an exploratory surgery of the bowel, and reproductive system...nothing remarkable, the pain continued, and there were new symptoms that came. (lower back pain, hip pain, severe food allergies, sleep irregularities, severe pain in my entire body during menstruation, etc) Fast forward to today...I have been diagnosed with IBS-pain predominant and take Linzess which does help with the pain. I have been diagnosed with 2 herniated discs in lower back, and a disc protrusion at vertebrae T9 and need 2 nerve blocks in the spine every 2 months to deal with the pain along with a prescription narcotic daily. I gained 60lbs as well.
I left my job in 2012 because I could no longer take the stress and pain I was experiencing. I started my own business so that I can work at my own pace. Recently, I've been coming across info on how saline implants are making women sick. I can't help but wonder if this might be the root cause for my health issues. I have been always been very healthy.
I apologize for the book I just wrote, but I'm really curious if other women with implants have had similar experiences, and what their results have been from having their implants removed. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts. Thank you so much.
