Just hung up the phone and finished my happy dance after scheduling surgery!!
48 days! ... And the countdown begins!
As I email my boss and ask for time off I have all these thoughts going through my mind.
Should I tell him what I'm having done? Will the whole office judge me? Should I not worry about what they think or lie and say I'm taking a vacation.
This seems silly to waste time thinking about and if this is my biggest worry at this point, I'll take it.
I am taking off 8 days for recovery and since I work a desk job and am opting out of muscle repair, I feel confident I will be okay to return in that amount of time.
A surgery such as this is about empowerment, to feel confident in our own skin, to make the decision we are going to put ourselves first and not in the name of vanity but in the name of self love.
The hard part is over. Decision has been made, deposit paid and surgery date confirmed.
I could not be happier right now.

Good for you! I've recently scheduled my own tummy tuck with no muscle repair. I decided not to tell my boss/office team what i'm having done, just that i'm having surgery. I'm taking 4 days off (surgery is on a Tuesday) to recover then planning to work from home the week after. I'm hoping to go back in to the office by wed/thursday that week following surgery but will work from home if I'm not up for it! I'm thrilled to hear how happy you are! I felt similarly when i booked but since then (literally just over the past weekend) i'm questioning my decision, seeing your post helped reinforce it, we deserve to feel confident and put ourselves first! Best of luck to you! I'll be following you and plan to do some posts during my recovery!

One day post op!!
Surgery went very well yesterday. I remember walking into the OR and taking in the bustling of the nurses and doctors and admiring their talents as well feeling an overwhelming sensation of gratitude that they were all there for me. I laid down on the table while a nurse held my hand and complimented my nail polish while the anesthiologist began his work. A minute later I was asleep.
What felt like two minutes later I was waking up in recovery. I remember nothing about the surgery whatsoever.
Nurse Kelly in recovery was probably the sweetest person I have ever met and sat with me until I was fully awaken from all the anesthesia. The pain wasn't that bad. I felt some tightness and a little
uncomfortable but nothing unbearable.
When I started to really come out of it I became very nauseous which is normal. Nurse Kelly gave me fenergan to help with the upset stomach. This put me to sleep for the next couple of hours. When I awoke my private recovery suite was ready. I was wheeled upstairs which just the movement of the bed made me dizzy so I took another 2 hour nap when I got all plugged into my new room.
At this point I still wasn't feeling that much pain. I got to see my new belly a couple times when the nurses checked my drains and incision. I am blown away. Even through the bruising, the tape and belly button gauze - I look amazing.
Overall I feel good, I feel happy, calm and peaceful.

Sweet, you go girl. Don't even worry about what others think, this is about you and not them.
