I had liposuction of the outer thighs and flanks 2 1/2 weeks ago. So far this webpage has helped me to recognize the things to be mindful of. At this point I'm very pleased with my results. I still have distal swelling of my outer thigh and lower flank area with numbness, but it tolerable. I wear my compression garment 24 hours a day still with removal for bathing. Honestly, I prefer wearing it as I feel like it does help with swelling immensely. I work as a director and am on the move and on my feet for majority of the day, so the compression garment is a plus for long days at work.
Recovery time: I took 1 1/2 weeks off from work. This still probably wasn't enough time, but this procedure was probably the hardest I've had to endure. Mostly from the nerves and disruption to the skin in the area I had done. (other procedures included breast augmentation in 2007 and tummy tuck in July of 2015.)
Words of wisdom...listen to your plastic surgeon. Mine encouraged me to do 20 minute soaks in the tub to reduce swelling in my thighs. I resisted for the first week as I hate being in the tub, but after I began actually doing the soaking my swelling reduced quickly.
Weight Loss: I didn't lose weight...I stayed the same. (although swelling is still occurring, but tolerable) I weighed 128 pounds before the procedure and today I am still 128 pounds. So be aware this isn't for weight loss...its for body sculpture. That's what I wanted...that's what I got.
How much did I have removed? My flank area 1300 CC on each side and 1150 CC on my right outer thigh and 850 CC on my left outer thigh. My right thigh slightly larger than my left...so this makes sense. This equals about 4600 CCs. Which I was surprised about, but I trusted my plastic surgeon with the results. I did actually mentioned before the surgery that I wanted her to be aggressive...this costs a lot...you want to advocate for what you want but also for what is reasonable.
I still hope to see more results. I'm happy with this procedure thus far. I went in with realistic expectations and came out with what I had hoped for.

How long did it take for people to start complimenting u...or asking hey have you lost weight?

I've been pretty conservative with my clothing as I'm still wearing the compression garment.
my significant other has commented quite a bit. I haven't heard a lot yet from others.

Thanks! I had lipo on many areas and don't plan on telling family at all but also wishing they would comment that I look better in some capacity. I guess it is just a waiting game.

Thank you. Slowly but surely people will notice. How long ago was your procedure done?

You look great! I'm doing thighs, flanks and sacral pad on Dec 18, and I'm wondering how long until you get a good night sleep, I've heard the first night is quite rough... And also whether after 1 week post op you still fit on your clothes, do you still see the muffin top? Thanks for your post

My muffin too was completely gone immediately. I didn't try my regular clothes on until about 1 1/2 weeks after the surgery. They were snug with the compression gatment on. When I try my pre surgery clothes on without the garment they fit close to the same as before but no muffin top or saddlebags. They are just right. I'm still wearing garment 24 hours a day.

Thank you for sharing. This is almost exactly what I would like to get done.
Thank you for your advice!
