I thought you might be interested in knowing a person who had this done nearly 15 years ago.
This is a very serious peel. My peel was preformed by a board certified plastic surgeon. On the same day of this operation, I had a upper and lower eyelid lift with fat pad removal and forehead muscles cut to prevent excessive wrinkling.
I also had a breast lift and augmentation.
I went home after the procedures and had a nurse stay with us for a week. I also had a hospital bed in my room at home. She did everything for me, as my face was completely wrapped for the first 4 days. My surgeon came to our home for the first 2 weeks. I don't remember everything, but he was very involved with my care. Once I could leave the house my husband took me weekly to the surgeon's office.
My recovery time was long. At 3 months I tried to wear camouflage makeup, but my skin was very sensitive and sore. I had the luxury of staying at home. By 6 months I could apply the camouflage makeup like a makeup artist, lol... I became an expert.
My face with makeup was amazing. People who knew me were blown away. Those who didn't know about the procedure thought I was 10 to 12 years younger than my true age. I was 42. I didn't take photos of my face without makeup, but I do have some photos that I can take a digital photo of now and post. So here are two photos one 2002 and one 2015. In 2002 I'm wearing camouflage makeup from MAC. In 2015 at age 55, 56 in April, I'm wearing lip tint by tarte and blush and finishing powder by physician' s formula. No other makeup. I do use a self tanning mouse by St. Tropez several times a week. This keeps my face and body the same color, as you know the peel leaves you pale and unable to tan.

Gosh you look amazing! Your sking is like porcelan! I had a phenol croton oil peel for 3 days. My skin started to peel today and the skin underneath is very red. I had no bandage that covered my face. I do not know if this is a indicate for a bad peel? I am very concerned that the peel was not deep enough to get rid of my superficial acne sacarring :(

Thank you for your kind words. The phenol croton oil peel is a little different from the full face phenol that I did so long ago. I hear this new version is less down time and more customizable for each person. Hang in there, the wait while you heal is half the battle. This is a tough time. The pain and the visual effects of your decision to have this procedure are very raw. Be good to yourself and stay strong in your beliefs. I'm not a doctor, but 3 days is still very early in your recovery. The first time I had to apply the ointment to my face without help, I nearly passed out. I broke down and cried from the fear and stress of not knowing if I had made the right decision in spending so much money on myself and inflicting this intense pain upon myself. Try not to second guess your doctor. Give your body and your mind time to process this huge event in your life. This is my first day at this site, but I'm sure there are many women here who will support you. I certainly will. Stay strong.

Thank you for your anwser! I live in germany and we dont have as many doctors as you have that perform a phenol based peel. I dont think the peel is as deep as a phenol peel should be. If i compare my picture right after the procedure, you can see less frosting in my face than others who had the peel done. So the more frost you can see the deeper the peel penetrates in your skin. My doctor says, we might have to do a second peel in 2 weeks. Also he said he dont wanted to go as deep so that i would need a bandage and wound care. He said its too risky to go really deep without staying at the hospital for at least one week. But i dont know if my skin can handle a second procedure being done in 2 weeks. Im very anxious that i could develop scarring....Your words are very helpful and i hope it will turn out good for me like it did for you!

Thank you, I have often wondered how we all look and feel 10 or more years after our procedures heal and we go on with life. This is a great site to share information. I'd like to upload a video, but I can't seem to get the right size. Any suggestions? I'm not a computer wiz, lol...but the last one was 4 minutes, and it said the file was too big.

You look incredible!!

You look stunning. I didn't realize with the Phenol peel that you can no longer tan. Is that due to the melanocytes being destroyed by the peel and u just burn? Wonder if that's the case with the peel today? I never heard out of the four head muscles being cut. I've heard of the muscle being cut for the lines between your eyebrows, but not forehead. Was it just one forehead muscle that was cut?

Dear Apolloschield, Your Skin Looks amazing even after all that time! was the Phenol applied under your eyes too? how much did it improve your wrinkling in that area provided that you had any Prior to the procedure? Ive often heard that they reappeared after 6 month only while the reddness persisted? thank you for sharing your experience

Hi Merleoberon, My entire face was peeled. It's a very deep and brutal procedure with a long down time, but the end results are long lasting. Muscles contracting repeatedly cause wrinkles and thats why my forehead muscle was cut. The peel removed all wrinkles. I had very deep forehead lines. Severe sun damage. After the peel you can use Retin A and bleaching cream to fine tune. This absolutely was the right choice for me, but it's not right for everyone. My skin tone was on the dark side, and this really is more for a light skinned person. Using self tanner on my face and under mt chin on my neck blends the lines of demarcation pretty well. I think the biggest mistake we can make when we choose plastic surgery is to think the end result will be flawless, like a picture in Vouge magazine. Only with makeup applied expertly will we achieve this. Back in the day, looking as close to a airbrushed phone as possible was my goal. We had a 6 figure income and I was a stay at home mom of 1, lol, so my life was very easy and stress free. Now I live more of a "real" life, minimum wage and a one bedroom apartment, lol...I can only splurge on the high end of life once in a while now, lol...but I'm definitely happy with the results of the peel. The breast lift and augmentation was not as successful or long lasting. That, my friend, is a story for another day. Thank you so much for your compliment, I really enjoy this site. Lots of information to share.

This site does rock.... I just turned 41 have a 4 year old that I raise without family or friends around for an.occasional break....when I look in the mirror I cringe. But even though I live a Modest life style, this still gives me hope for that day I be able to turn back some stress damage lol

Thank you, any plastic surgery or deep peel is a decision one should carefully consider. Money and pain are the biggest obstacles to iver come. I really hope that more women will post 15 year's after photos, so girls thinking about these procedures can make well informed decisions. There are down sides to every procedure, but I'm glad I made this choice.

I work for a doctor in temecula. Ca that has been doing phenol peels for over 30years and is his specialty. He does phenol peels (he has called OSR (oneil skin rejuvenation) they are amazing. Yes wrinkles are gone. He has gotten the aftercare down pat. Our patients stay at an aftercare facility for five days then go home and know how to take care of the rest. They are covered in a special iodine powder and it becomes like a crust after repeated applications. It all comes off on the 10th or 11th day. Skin is new and pink to red but we also have some makeup that can be used after the crust comes off. He also does the neck with a 35% tda peel to help with the sun damaged declotage and neck and helps with demarcation...check it out on his website. The clinic is Oneil skin and Lipo medical center. Yes his other specialty is Lipo. He's great at both....

Does Dr. Oneil do the Croton oil peel or the modified phenol peel which I hear is not as dangerous and does not leave your face with a waxy appearance.

Hi everyone,
I had a Croton oil peel done around my eyes 7 months ago and I am still red and have an odd texture under my eyes. Can anyone give me advice? did anyone else have this problem? What kind of cream/ointment did you use on your skin? I am still using petroleum jelly.
