WORTH IT$4,900
I have been wanting to straighten my teeth for a long time. I never got braces as a kid I regret that now. So,while at my dentist, he suggested it. Several occasions. My husband just got some work done so I asked how much he spent , when I found out the price, I didn't hesitate. My first appointment didn't take too long, impressions and pictures, that stuff they used I thought I was going to gag on it. Bleh. I've got a small mouth as it is. So two days ago, I get my trays! Yay! ... 20 buttons later, I learn how to take them in and out. I'm feeling ok. No pain just a little sensitivity, but my tongue!! Oh my gosh. I feel like I've gnawed on razor blades. I hope this goes away soon. They did file it down, but last night indie a little more and it helped I think.
I've only got ten trays so a little under a year. I'm excited. Another plus, I hate taking them out. So I'm only eating 3 meals a day, no snacking!

Tray 2.
So, it's been 14 days since I first got tray 1. It wasn't bad except the sharp edges which I finally broke down and filed them down with a small emery board. Wax too. lots of dental wax , the only thing I am not liking, is the constant teeth brushing after each meal. Im down some pounds though because, I decided, Im not taking them out to snack, so it's been 3 meals a day for me.
Tonight I put in tray 2.. They seem to fit better than the first tray, they dont cut at all, I may need just a small bit of wax, but they are tighter, my teeth don't hurt, I just feel some pressure, like they are being squeezed together. hopefully this will pass in a few days.
Im just really getting sick and tired of the toothpaste. How many times can a person brush in a day! ugh.
oh, and, how do you keep them clean? its annoying! anyone?? anyone? ?

Welcome aboard! I've been wearing my aligners now for 14 loooooooong months. Also 20 attachments. Brushing is so tedious that is for sure. I've never gone through so many tubes of toothpaste and floss sticks as I have this past year! And we all agree with you - it is too much bother to snack, so we just don't. As for the trays? Yes, they do need special attention. I soak mine (in a dollar store denture cup) every chance I get (i.e. not at restaurants). I use a tiny squirt of clear anti-bacterial soap, and a good splash of vinegar. Others use half hydrogen peroxide, but I don't feel comfortable using something I wouldn't put in my mouth normally. I also brush my aligners as often as my teeth. Toothpaste taste better than vinegar residue! LOL. They can get quite yukky if you don't brush them. I use a slimline toothbrush. The bristles fit inside the narrow aligners nicely. Others swear by baby toothbrushes. Last of all, you need to carry around your little hygiene kit in your purse so it goes where you go. I use a pencil case in which my toothbrush fits just fine, along with a tiny tube of travel toothpaste and floss picks. Baggies, cosmetic cases, all work too. My opinion is that your mouth eventually gets used to those crazy foreign objects and eventually you keep your tongue from rolling over all the rough edges. Good luck with your journey!

I bought Retainer Brite tablets off amazon and soak them in that every morning while I'm eating breakfast. They don't keep them completely clean on their own, but at least there's no staining and no smell.

Tray 7 of ten.
So far so good. I'm losing weight. I can't snack Win win! I'm down 17 lbs. just had my teeth filed to make room for them to shift more. I've got 3 more trays, and then another set of impressions. The only downfall is, my upcoming trip to Italy. Wine will stain!
