76 yrs old : 34H to 34 D --Long Awaited Breast Reduction. Riverside, CA

I have dreamed of a breast reduction for years. Why did I wait so long? I am 5'7", and before surgery I weighed about 141 lb., and wore a 34H bra. I had pain in my arms, shoulders, head, neck and back. The surgery eliminated all my pain. Now I weigh 136.5 lb. and wear a 34 D or DD bra; I am well proportioned. A side benefit: I can now wear styles of clothing that previously I would not even consider; even pretty bras. The surgery was so easy.

I have not written in months so this is over due. I have also added a 3-month post surgery picture. I wish I had gotten a before picture, but you can look at anyone else's post and see what it looks like. The next picture will be at the one year post-surgery mark. So here goes.

I am still in awe of Dr. Hardesty as a person, and a surgeon. He really is the best. His staff remain to be absolutely fantastic. They are always so cheerful and caring, just like Dr. Hardesty They all, from front desk to hands on staff, make you feel as if you were the one and only most favored patient

Yesterday, I went for my 8 month check up appointment. Everything is going exceedingly well. I did have some inside scar tissue around the areola that was not resolving, so Dr. Hardesty injected something into the site to help it soften. I think it might have been a steroid, but not sure. I sometimes don't pay full attention to specifics, but that is because I trust Dr. Hardesty completely. Yes, the injection needle hurt. He gave me two soft balls to squeeze during the injection...it really did help! As soon as the needle was removed there was no more pain. Also, it seemed to immediate start to work. At least by today it certainly is softening.

Near the beginning of post-surgery Dr. Hardesty told me to massage my breasts in a particular fashion four times a day. Additionally I was to use a vibrating massager for about 10 minutes at a time daily. Chelsea, his current PA said to use at times like if I were sitting to watch TV. A friend of mine, and former PA of Dr. Hardesty's, who absolutely adores Dr. Hardesty, had told me soon after surgery that by the years end everything would be "ironed out--meaning smooth. She was so right. My breasts are changing and looking smoother all the time. Even at my age.

A few months ago I began having pain in my right breast. I dropped into Dr. Hardesty's office with no appointment. Dr Hardesty saw me immediately! It was determined that there was scar tissue inside. He prescribed 10 minute laser treatments two times a week. The first treatment took place that same day and reduced the pain, and a day later seemed gone. But I continued with the prescribed treatments until the breast was feeling soft.

I am so excited about my breast reduction. It is so wonderful to have normal size breasts for my body. It appears I will be a 34 D, although depending on the bra, it might be a 34 DD. Either way my breasts to me are beautiful naked. I love not having to put on a bra in the morning to feel halfway comfortable, which then becomes uncomfortable. Also my breasts look fabulously sexy in clothes -- my opinion. Although, I have been told I look "hot" by a couple men, so that is a remarkable complement (remember I am now 77). Then a good friend who did not know about the reduction, and had not seen me since surgery, thought I had lost a lot of weight. But no, it was totally due to the reduction. She was shocked. Women who knew what I had done also think my new look is awesome.
