I had my upper eyelids done in December 2016 at Cosmetic Surgery Associates with Dr. Franklin Richards and I would like to share my very positive experience. Before I decided where to go I did a lot of research online to find the best place for me. An article at the Washingtonian about best doctors in DC and DC area finally convinced me to call Dr. Richard’s office at Cosmetic Surgery Associates in Rockville to schedule a consultation appointment. A nurse conducted most of the consultation appointment. Dr. Richard just saw me for maybe two or three minutes. That might be fine, but for me coming from Europe I would have preferred to spend more time with Dr. Richard to find out about the procedure. Regardless, I scheduled my surgery right after the consultation appointment. Later at home I had some doubts about my decision and I started worrying about whether I had made the right choice. More and more questions came to me, questions I had not asked. I called Dr. Richard’s office again and mentioned my concerns. Joann, the appointment coordinator, whom is very nice by the way, recommended having another consultation with Dr. Richard, to make sure that I would feel comfortable and safe with my decision to undergo surgery. The second consultation with Dr. Richard himself was very helpful to me. I could address all my questions and concerns and Dr. Richard explained everything to me. I was aware that my procedure was a routine surgery for Dr. Richard’s and his team, but for me, doing something like this for the first time was a big deal. The day of the surgery arrived and everything went well. I had some pain the day after surgery but I had a lot of swelling and some bruising for almost 10 days. So please be prepared that you may not want be in public for at least a week, maybe ten days. Dr. Richard’s took off the stiches six days after my surgery and told me to be careful with my scars because they have not heeled up totally inside. Approximately 4-5 weeks after surgery all swelling and bruising was gone and I could see the final result. I am very happy with it. The tired look is gone and also the heavy feeling. I started using eye make up again about three to four weeks after my surgery. When I tell people that I had upper eyelid surgery done, it is hard for them to believe, because you do not see a scar at all. The overall experience I had with the surgery is very positive and I am planning to have my under eyelids done by Dr. Richard’s at the end of this year.
