Don't Walk, Run to See Dr. Zakhary!!

On February 10, 2023, Dr. Kristina Zakhary performed a closed Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty to reduce a dorsal hump and straighten my airways. I cannot say enough amazing things about the experience!
Dr. Zakhary was very attentive leading up to the surgery and although I was nervous, her expertise and warm/caring/fun personality definitely helped to reduce my anxiety.
Following the successful surgery, she was very clear and precise on what I should and should not be doing to make a speedy recovery. I was in a cast for 2 weeks and had an allergic reaction to the tape that was holding the cast in place. Unfortunately, I had to cut most of the tape off to let my skin heal 1 week into my recovery - please make sure to alert the team if you have an allergy to medical tape (I did not find this out the easy way). Dr. Zakhary prescribed me cream to help with the reaction and it did help speed up this recovery.
After getting the cast off (make sure to take Advil and Tylenol leading up to this part of the process, as it is very uncomfortable), I was instantly IN LOVE with my surgery results. My results were even better than I could have wished for and all the stress and anxiety for the many months leading up to this moment were all gone, thanks to Dr. Zakhary! Following the removal of the cast, she will instruct you to perform painful, yet necessary, nose massages every hour for the first month afterwards. MAKE SURE TO DO THIS.... It really helped with reducing swelling and any potential for scar tissue build up. It is very uncomfortable but TRUST Dr. Zakhary on this one .... she knows what she is talking about ! I live in Edmonton and could not easily schedule an appointment with her office and when I had reservations about some bumps I started to notice on my nose, I texted Dr. Zakhary and within seconds she called me to talk me through what may be happening and explain that this is very normal after surgery. She truly is the most attentive doctor you could ask for and if you want someone who would be on speed dial for you, then please trust her to perform your surgery!
I am 4 months into living with my new nose and could not be happier! Every month truly gets better and this is actually the first month were I feel like ALL swelling has gone down and my nose feels even stronger than before. It can be a long process, especially mentally and emotionally , but Dr. Zakhary really helped ease my mind throughout the whole process and I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else!
