Eleven months

My nose feels completely natural. There’s still some swelling in the tip, a bit more on one side then the other that I hope will continue to even out but I’m happy. The changes now are very subtle.

8 month update

It’s been eight months since my rhinoplasty. I no longer am surprised when I look in the mirror. My nose feels “real”, I can blow it, rub it or bump it gently and it feels normal. It is still tender it it gets smushed toward my face. I think it’s still a bit swollen in the bottom two thirds, probably in a way only I can notice. I wish it were slimmer at the base, I had wide nostrils to begin with ( Dr D even did an alar base reduction ) so I remind myself about the need for it to remain functional. The profile is perfect. Identical to my morphs. I’m still happy.

Adding my morphs

I didn’t like my morphs showing as my first photos on the site so I moved them here. I wish RealSelf would let me edit old posts but I can’t figure out how. That means I can’t rearrange photo order or correct spelling mistakes I don’t catch (darn you auto correct on my iphone). Anyway, three and a half months out and swelling seems to resolve slowly. I can touch my nose and even blow it occasionally. I’m still gentle with it but I can wash my face normally.

I chose Dr Denenberg because he marketed himself as being able to handle challenging noses. After two consultations with regional rhino doctors that seemed experts in removing humps but could provide no proof they could handle other noses successfully, I decided to email Dr. D. He responded on a weekend and provided morphs that captured exactly what I hoped to achieve. He was honest that the human nose, and my nose, had limitations. He was clear he didn’t offer a nose menu where the sky was the limit but he could promise a beautiful nose. Based on his website and careful consideration of his work displayed here on RealSelf, I traveled to Omaha. When making my decision I looked at the people that weren’t thrilled with his results and asked myself - “ if I get that result, will I be happy.” I decided all his results looked consistently good. He delivered a result for me that is nearly identical to the morphs he provided me. I am thrilled. My nose works perfectly. Breathing is great. My confidence is increased - I no longer worry about people viewing my profile. In summary, Dr. D is skilled and delightful. His staff and overnight caretaker (a nurse and former patient of his) are as well. He is equally responsive in follow up as he is prior to the operation. I would recommend him to anyone that wants a beautiful nose and has realistic expectations.
