Revision Rhinoplasty with Dr Ali Murat Akkus 2 month update
My revision surgery was almost 2 months ago and I figured I should post a little update since my last recovery post.
So after I posted my last update I had a complication a few days after my surgery. I started to feel heat and notice redness at the tip of my nose and it turned out to be an infection. Dr Ali handled my infection problem very well in my opinion and it was noticed right away. He put me on strong IV antibiotics 2x per day for 5 days and the infection quickly went away after the 2nd day. It was definitely a scary situation for me especially before the infection started to go away, I was overthinking like crazy but I did my best to remain calm and trust the process and I’m SO glad that I was in the right hands and properly cared for !! He wanted to see me everyday to check in on how my nose was doing and how it was recovering from the infection. The It’s definitely a risk that could happen to anyone with such a big surgery and the best thing to do is to choose a surgeon who knows what their doing and how to handle any worst-case scenario, unforeseen situation like this !!!
My nose is currently still pretty swollen, especially on the bridge of my nose where a small bump formed a few days after my cast was removed (see photos I added on here). The dr put a small amount of the graft on my bridge because before it felt bumpy when I ran my finger down it. This small bump could take several months too go back down and I will make sure to post update photos when it does :)
Overall my nose looks SO much better than it did before even at barely 2 months post-op. Although it isn’t perfectly straight - the doctor told me that he would NOT be able to make it look perfect, but to make it look more natural/better. The bridge and tip still feel slightly tender and my nose gets irritated if I wear a mask for too long in public, eat too much salt in a day, or if I raise my heart rate too much. The healing for revision surgery apparently takes twice as long to heal than the first one so I’m trying my very best to be patient.
I was so scared to do my revision surgery and even though I had some complications and am still recovering from the swelling right now, I have zero regrets and feel so much happier and confident now. My nose looks more natural which is exactly what I wanted. I really wish I had gone to Dr Ali for my first rhinoplasty I feel like I could have avoided being botched from the very beginning, but I take it as a learning experience now !!
I will post more photo updates as the swelling goes down in the next months !!

My Revision Rhinoplasty with Dr Ali Murat Akkus
Hello all. I’m currently in Istanbul recovering from my revision Rhinoplasty that I had with Dr Ali Murat Akkus 3 days ago. I initially had some problems finding flights to Istanbul from Canada because they kept getting cancelled due to covid but I finally booked everything and here I am to update everyone (as promised).
I still have my cast on and my face is very puffy and swollen and will be getting it taken off a day before my flight leaves. Of course my nose will be swollen especially for the next 3 months or so - so I will come back to update this post with photos for my aesthetic results in the near future. For now I want to share my surgery experience with Dr Ali Murat Akkus. :)
Before I had my consultation with Dr Ali on October 4th, I scheduled a PCR test the day before (a negative test result is required right before your surgery). The result came back negative so I was all cleared to have my consultation the next day.
I had a good experience at my consultation with Dr Ali. He is very professional, genuine and he pays attention to even the small details. He listened to all of my concerns and he told me what he can do for me to help fix my crooked and upturned nose. The consultation lasted around an hour, he took my photos from different angles and brought up an app on his computer that does image editing to help predict the outcome of how your nose will look after surgery (of course it’s not 100% going to look like the photo- but very similar). He decided that he was going to need to do an open rhinoplasty on me and would need to take cartilage from my rip to help structure and turn down the tip of my nose to make it straight again. Since this is my revision rhinoplasty of course I felt nervous after my first experience 2 years ago with Dr Arda, and I felt a lot of anxiety and doubt before arriving at his office. Luckily I left my consultation feeling less anxiety and more excitement about my surgery booked for the next morning because I felt like he really understood my concerns and there was no turning back for me at that point so I decided to just put all of my trust in him.
I arrived at the hospital at 6am where I checked in to my room and met the doctor and his assistant around 7am to talk and see if I had any questions before the surgery which took place at 8am as planned. The surgery went well, I woke up feeling really sore where the incision was on my rib but they gave me painkillers right away. I ate fairly large and healthy meals the day before my surgery and I didn’t wake up nauseous after the anesthesia at all which was a pleasant surprise. The hospital was good, the nurses were absolutely AMAZING and took really good care of me, I feel like they went above and beyond to make sure I was feeling ok and we’re checking in on me regularly to ice me and change my IV, etc... I came to Istanbul alone to do this surgery so I didn’t have a friend or family member there with me. I didn’t have to ask any of the nurses for help once because they were already a step ahead which really made my experience 1000% times better.
I spent 1 night in the hospital and was discharged the next day I think around 11am where I got back to my hotel and have been recovering since. The pain from the operation was moderate - if anyone has had rhinoplasty before they know that it’s more uncomfortable than painful during the recovery especially during the first 3 days before the swelling starts to go down.
The first 2 nights the incision by my fib was moderately painful. At the moment 3 full days have passed and the swelling is finally going down and I’m feeling a lot more comfortable. I don’t have any bruising (yet) I think that may be because he didn’t have to break any bones on me and I iced my face consistently for the first 2 days. I stopped taking vitamins a few weeks prior and started eating lots of pineapple, eating healthy foods, and applying arnica gel days before and after my surgery because it’s supposed to help with the recovery process.
Yesterday (Oct 7th) I had the silicon tubes that were in my nose removed which felt amazing ! Now it’s just a matter of time before I see my nose for the first time and will have to wait for the next few months for the significant swelling to start to go down. I can already tell how much more natural the side profile looks on my face underneath the cast and I’m very excited to see my final results. I’ve been checking Dr Alis Instagram page and watching all of his 6 month & 1 year result videos and it makes me even more excited about my recovery !
It’s too soon for me to post before and after photos but please stay tuned for updates in the future ????

Rhinoplasty Turkey Istanbul Dr Arda Pelen
Hey guys, so I just wanted to write about where I’m at after having my primary rhinoplasty done almost 2 years ago in Istanbul with Dr Arda Pelen. I’ve been trying to find before and after photos and actual reviews by doctors in Istanbul on realself but I haven’t managed to find many which is why I’ve decided to post mine. So my overall booking and communication experience with Dr Arda went very smoothly and was very straightforward I don’t know a hint of Turkish and was flying over from Canada which can be intimidating doing surgery overseas. The hospital was gorgeous and I had a huge room with a tv lounge area and bathroom in the suite. I think I ended up paying around 3500-4000 euros for everything in total. The consultation was booked for the same day of my surgery (12pm even though I was scheduled for 8am) and the doctor arrived a couple hours before my surgery and asked me what I wanted, it was less than 10 minutes and there were other people in the room with us - the nurse and I think his assistant. I showed him a few inspo photos and he seemed to understand what I wanted. Keep in mind that I was not at all nervous about the surgery itself, I have wanted a nosejob since I was like 14 and I decided to put my full trust into him and loved his Instagram results and I assumed that I would have the same results. Fast forward to my cast removal, I have read a lot of people’s experiences with swelling and such so I wasn’t expecting to like my nose for the next 6 months. I was horrified when he took off the cast of course but I just told myself that it’s a long healing process and to be patient. Something that I was always concerned about is how crooked my nose was from the front, and it being almost 2 years from my surgery now my nose is still slanted to the side and I really hate how upturned and thick it looks from the side, it wasn’t like the inspo photo that I showed him and I totally understand that it can’t look exactly like photos but as you can see in my photo it’s extremely high and I just feel like he didn’t understand my vision, I don’t know if that’s because we didn’t properly sit down and discuss it in detail or not. He has asked to post one of the photos that I posted on my IG to his but it’s I’m wearing a heavy Instagram filter in that photo lol so it didn’t really make sense (I’ll attach photo in this post). I have booked my flight with a flexible ticket assuming that the travel bans are lifted and it’s safe to fly (Because of covid-19) for January 2021 to Istanbul to do my revision rhinoplasty but I haven’t booked or confirmed any doctors yet. I am highly considering Dr Ali Evlice, I love his work and some photos that he has up of his patients are super natural and amazing but he doesn’t have any English reviews online so I’m super nervous about booking a revision and finding the right doctor for me. I inquired about having any revision with Dr Mirza Firat but I’ve seen too many mixed reviews on him. He also quoted me $5500US but he’s bringing up his price to $6500US in 2021 even if I book now. If anyone is planning on visiting turkey for any surgeries In January and want to connect please let me know ! I’m also looking for any recommendations of doctors in Istanbul for my revision still, I’ll attach my inspo photos in this post as well as some before pics for reference for y’all !!
