WORTH IT
My best guess is 18-24 months for me to meet, finally and permanently, my new nose. I'm ok with that. It's been a very long journey. I'd do it again (though I'd be a lot more brave, not procrastinate so long, and be slightly more assertive with myself in being clear with what I wanted perhaps... but life is a learning curve!)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Can you share with us what have changed in your nose? Did you make any tip changes? Bone work? Septum? Was it closed or open?

Refinement overall, septum definitely, internal straightening of left passage to breathe better, tip work yes, no bone and all done closed.

Just to say I think your nose looks better than the morph. Very happy for you, I’m thinking about going to London for a face to face with him xx

Thank you for a very thorough review. It really was a pleasure to read. Congratulations on achieving exactly what you wanted!

I completely agree that it's not about about how dramatic the result is or how it fits some generic beauty standard - it's about getting exactly the changes that are important and meaningful to you. Now that is a successful rhinoplasty. Happy healing to you.

Hi can you give me some advice about your process?
I'm looking for a revision and I've seen
Ms Lydia Badia - the original surgeon and lovely lady. Actually did a pretty good job but I wanted further change to my nose to correct pre-existing asymmetry. She said she was unable to make those changes.
Mr Ion - lovely man but there were conflicting approaches between him & Mr Paun. Mr Paun's approach seemed to make more sense.
Mr Paun - was great and was considering going with him but due to him and Mr Ion saying completely different things I wanted a 3rd/4th opinion!
I'm currently looking for a surgeon who only does noses.
I think Ms Badia had actually mentioned Mr Saleh. I've also thought about seeing Julian Rowe Jones (but I've been put off by some reviews on his consultations where people have spent £200 only for him to say - nope sorry can't do anything!)

Aside from Mr Saleh - do you have any other recommendations?

And any tips on what to look for and what to watch out for?

@tristworthy800473 who is Mr Paun?

Omg don’t even go there
Had it with him
Disaster
I wouldn’t go with Lucian Ion tho
I had alar rim retraction as a complication from the primary (with Lydia Badia) which Lucian ion didn’t even recognize (tbf neither did I because it had been a gradual change from the primary rhino result)

Paun did recognize it (but never explained it fully) and also went with me on a change I asked for but really didn’t understand and shouldn’t have had (his morphs are really of poor quality, at least Lucian Ions morphs were of sufficient quality so I could understand what I was getting in for and stop it) he also said I should get this invisible bony ridge shaved down due to it likely becoming visible as a bump as my skin thinned with age. I wasn’t keen but he was like no I really would it’ll show as you age. I agreed on the promise that my nose would absolutely not get any wider.
It totally did
Possibly some swelling still left but I can feel that he took of more that I expected him too and it’s now flat there as opposed to top of a prism which your nose should have. Think the flatness is called open roof deformity or something like that not sure.

I’d see hesham saleh. Poor social media presence but have a look at credentials. Like Mr Saleh and Mr Paun very good. But as my case shows obviously not a guarantee!!

My biggest regret is not going with him. He advised me not to change the tip only to pull down the alar rim contraction

Unfortunately no one even told me that’s what it was. Didn’t even realise it was a deformity from the primary stupidly assumed it had always been there because it had been a such a slow gradual change from the primary rhino

Shows the risk tho about scar tissue and how you can’t predict how your nose will end up

Which Mr Paun had mentioned tbh
But I’m gobsmacked he didn’t explain that in the context of unpredictable wound healing I already had in the form of alar rim retraction

Then I could have woken up a bit more and been like WOAH yeh you can get deformities from rhinoplasty

If I’d know that I probably would’ve never got a revision and just got filler to reduce the nostril show.
Surgery is unpredictable. Maybe consider filler if you’ve never had prior rhino (increased risks if you’ve already had surgery) tho fillers in the nose are generally riskier anyways compared to lips

If you get surgery I’d advise someone like Mr Saleh who advises you to be conservative and also doesn’t push you toward a change you don’t even want!!!!

@trustworthy I have already been to Ion, twice. He did make changes to my nose that I did not want.. like you say, shaved a bit of a bump my nose had that I told him not to shave. He said, oh it was just to smooth it out, I didn’t really shave anything. It affected the lighting that used to reflect off my nose that gave me contours, and now yes, it looks flat. My eyes don’t look the same. He also made my tip very short and screwed up my nostril rims.Philtrum is exposed negatively. It ages a face when it is long. I do not recommend him to anyone. He makes great morphs and will speak to you in consults for lengthy periods of time. Numerous times if you like about your goals, contours and shadows, all the things you lose when having a rhinoplasty with him. He literally did the opposite and I’ve learned I cannot trust him to respect my wishes. He does extra in surgery. He can’t help himself. I thought for sure he would get it the second time, but he still was way off estimated result. I’m depressed as hell and isolate because I look awful. No facial balance whatsoever.

Oh sorry I’ve written my comment confusingly

Mine was with santdeep Paun

I had a consultation with Lucian ion and he was lovely but he didn’t even recognize that I had alar rim retraction whereas at least the other two did even if they didn’t explain it properly. I’m really sorry you’ve had this experience with him he’d come with such a great reputation as well.

My journey with consultations had been so confusing. It showed how much I didn’t understand the anatomy when I was trying to drag the columella up rather than pull the nostril that had retracted down. Mad.

So yeh I’d agree with you I don’t think Lucian Ion is very good he didn’t recognize it at all

It’s mad though. I literally said to Paun I didn’t want the ridge shaved because I’d read reviews just like ours that said it would get wider but he downright promised it wouldn’t

I’d had such a positive experience with the primary. I regret so much not going with Saleh I think I would’ve been in the position I wanted to be in

Shows how cowboy these people are they just don’t care. So unregulated. And people are kind of just like - well you deserve it you shouldn’t have got plastic surgery

Paun gaslit the hell out of me afterwards as well and I was like ok yes the alar rim retraction is gone by the tip and the bridge look rubbish!

Yeh I’m really depressed as well. I desperately regret it and wish I could go back for a third to get it put back the way it should be but part of my thinks that would be mad and I don’t know if I will do

I’d taken a long time researching surgeons and finding people that only did noses so would be experts, had practiced for a long time and were revision experts. So I don’t know how on earth you can go through this minefield safely!

It's been a year, I'm still healing (9)

The 'ONE YEAR' mark isn't something you should fixate yourself with. Even without bone work, I'm still healing. I know this because I've seen my 'nose' without the swelling on the very occasional no-swelling day, and so I have a clear comparison now. And what I have found SO interesting in this process is how important lifestyle, health, good nutrition is. The days when I've welcomed my non-swollen nose are usually after a week of very healthy eating, plenty of exercise, water, no alcohol. So I know what I need to do to encourage the healing. Pretty straightforward stuff.

Hi, your nose looks amazing. Just wondering did you take Arnica, pineapple juice and all that stuff to help with bruising/swelling and inflammation?

Arnica tablets as well as skin cream (you don't need to take or use arnica for days running up to the surgery, only really once you have had it). In the run-up to surgery and then in the weeks after I maintained a really healthy standard of diet, with lots of green juices (more green leaves and veg, than fruits), drank loads of water etc. But ultimately with bruising you just have to be patient. Your body will do its job, you can't always predict how quickly. I wish you all the greatest success in the world with your surgery journey! Good luck.

Yes that's very true, healthy living makes a huge difference. I will remember to take my blender as i am going abroad to have mine done so thanks for the heads up on the green juices. Thanks and all the best with your new nose you look truly amazing can't wait to get mine done in November. All the best.

The Healing process (8)

Swelling fluctuates, rhinitis abounds, you feel great one day, the next morning you feel like Rudolf. Food is a factor, alcohol has an impact, as does the weather, monthly cycle, stress factors, lack of exercise... all seem to influence the size of my nose!
I have seen my ‘final’ nose on the occasional no-swelling day, and so I know I’m excited when it exists more permanently. I’m patiently waiting.

It will be good if you could update us of what you think the very final shape.

Hello, I definitely plan to, but my final shape isn't here yet. I've had a further follow-up with the consultant, who advised that I am in, in his experience, the 2 - 5% of patients for whom full healing takes up to 2 years. It's been 18months for me at this point. I only have the odd day where the final shape appears, and then it slightly swells again. So I have a few months left before I can post a final update. But I'm happy with the result and patient for the outcome.
