POSTED UNDER Rhinoplasty Reviews

Left with septal perforation, over-resected bridge, over-rotated tip & asymmetry

ORIGINAL POST

Please Reconsider

I am writing this review of my rhinoplasty with Dr. Brace at Guelph Facial Plastics with a heavy heart and a great deal of regret. I have chosen to use a pseudonym account to remain anonymous.

Leading up to my rhinoplasty, I was very anxious, but I was reassured by Dr. Brace’s five-star reviews and promises of subtle changes and a natural looking result. I also trusted his confidence in his ability to help me. However, the results of my rhinoplasty were far from what I was expecting, both functionally and aesthetically, and have caused irreparable damage not only to my nose, but also to my self-confidence and sense of self.

Functionally, I was left with a 1cm septal perforation that created dryness and discomfort, and impacted my ability to sleep, breathe, and exercise. Aesthetically, I had an over-resected bridge, an over-rotated tip, a nasal tip bossae, and significant asymmetry (among other things), as seen in the attached photos. These were all confirmed by several leading rhinoplasty surgeons in the US, including the one who performed my 6 hour revision rhinoplasty, which required rib and temporal fascia to completely reconstruct my nose and build my bridge back up.

When I initially expressed my concerns to Dr. Brace, he assured me that my nose was healing well, and that I needed to be patient and “hang in there.” Being new and naive to plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures, I believed him. I spent the next few months waiting, and waiting, and waiting. It was not until I was around 10 months post-op when I realized that the overall function and aesthetics of my nose had not improved at all. If anything, they got worse as my swelling subsided.

It was also at this time when Dr. Brace agreed with some of the concerns that I previously expressed and offered to meet with me to discuss a revision rhinoplasty, free of charge. While I valued his time, I ultimately decided to move forward with another surgeon because I could not entrust my care to him again.

My sincere hope is that my recent experience encourages you to reevaluate your decision to undergo rhinoplasty, in general and with Dr. Brace. While some aspects of my nasal function and aesthetics have been partially restored following my revision rhinoplasty (with another surgeon), the significant psychological and financial implications of my rhinoplasty are irreversible.
