How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

RUN AWAY- Do Not Trust This Surgeon
Hi Realself community,
I'm writing this (long) review to help save someone from having a terrible consultation and experience with surgery that I'm sure will be life-changing. I'm a well-respected professional in the advertising industry and are employed by a reputable company. I finally decided to have nose surgery after years of contemplating if it was the right decision for me. As a first-generation South Asian that had immigrant parents, this was not widely accepted. I found Dr. Raj Kanodia through a celebrity's Instagram page (1st red flag and lesson learned). I thought since I'm South Asian, Dr. Kanodia would be the best fit and understand the structure of noses within that ethnic background.
I was charged $200 for a consultation, which I happily paid if this meant I would be seeing a trusted physician. Money for this type of surgery was not a question in my mind if it meant I would be handled with care. Unfortunately, I had no idea that if you were not a celebrity, Dr. Kanodia would barely give you the time of day or opportunity to be treated like a human being.
The first interaction with Dr. Kanodia was my first indication of how this consultation would take place. He walked into the room, did not introduce himself or speak with me (as a trusted professional that works with many high-profile clients I introduced myself as most people would do). He quickly looked into my nose, said I need this nose surgery and walked away. His demeanor was cold, uninviting, and arrogant.
I waited in his waiting room while his technicians anxiously placed his pens/notepads on his desk (you can tell they were scared of him- 2nd red flag). He walked into the room, claimed that he does not utilize computers to re-image the nose, so he drew on the photos the technician had taken earlier. The drawing was a joke. I expressed my concern w/ how he was envisioning this surgery and that was when I saw the ego of this "celebrity surgeon". I had asked how many South Asian noses he had performed on and he barked back with "if I didn't know who he was then I should do my research" and "he did not have to prove himself to me". The reaction was as if I just insulted him in the worst way by asking normal questions from someone who potentially will perform life-changing surgery on me. He huffed, immediately went on a tangent on how Rhinoplasty is an art form and that he was an artist (which I agreed). However, he handled the conversation as if he was a toddler and was having a temper tantrum. I expressed that I would never speak to my clients in this tone/manner and that maybe this was not the right fit for me. I immediately shook his hand (as any professional would) and left for my last meeting w/ the nurse. I was in pure shock how that quick interaction went with a well-known surgeon.
I communicated the terrible altercation/experience I just had w/ the nurse and her response was "he's just like that but he's very talented". If anyone at that office is reading this review, that is not an excuse and should not be tolerated in any instance. The nurse quoted me $22K for the surgery which was outlandish after what I had just experienced. When I told her I would not be back, she stated, and I quote "don't worry go do your research and I know you'll be back" (3rd and final red flag). Well, I'm happy and pleased to say that I did find a more than well-qualified surgeon, who had been in same training programs with Dr. Kanodia (not surprised as they're both based in LA) and had heard very similar claims towards him from patients he had treated. I had an AMAZING Septoplasty/Rhinoplasty surgery (6 weeks post-op) and I'm SO happy w/ the results! Everything happens for a reason but if I can help save someone from having a botched surgery than I can happily say that this long-winded review was well worth it!
Dr. Kanodia has no idea who I know in this small-industry and I'm extremely confident to say that I will never advise anyone to use his services on ANY procedure. If you're a celebrity- good luck w/ retaining his attention, money will definitely buy it. If you're a normal, hard-working person that has made your way into his office, don't bother wasting your money and time. Go find someone who will actually care about you and your surgery.
I know how advertising works, and at times doctors can easily pay off bad reviews with ad spend (i.e. yelp) so rest assured I will be placing this review on every online review destination as possible. The intention with this review is not to get my money back in any way, but to save whoever I can from going through the dehumanizing experience I endured with Dr. Kanodia.
Best of luck.
