2 Rhinoplasties: Run for the Hills...
I'm not even sure how to start this review, but here it goes. 17 years ago, I was 18 years old and my parents very generously gifted me the nose job I had been begging for. My father's friend highly recommended Dr. Persky. Back then, sites like this didn't really exist so you went a lot by word of mouth and before and after photos. So we met with him and he's a really nice guy and said he could absolutely take care of the hump on my nose, make sure that the tip of my nose didn't droop when I smiled, and we would do a septoplasty to fix my breathing. Surgery happens and while I'm recovering we notice that there's a bump on the left side of my nose, my nose is slightly crooked, and I still can't breathe quite well. I'm told to hold off for a year to let the swelling come down and see what happens. After a year, nothing has changed and the same issues are there.
We go back to Dr. Persky and he offers to do a revision where we would only have to pay for the room and anesthesiologist. I personally didn't want to go with him and wanted to use a different doctor in Newport Beach, but I was 19, didn't have the money and my parents convinced to just trust Dr. Persky to fix what went wrong the first time. Well I went through a second revision and let me tell you nothing was fixed; I still have a bump on the side of my nose, I still can't breathe, and my nose crooked.
I'm 35 and finally went to see a revision rhinoplasty specialist to see what they had to say about Dr. Persky's work. Direct quote. "I can't see one thing this doctor did right with your nose." I don't have it in me to do another surgery, but I needed someone to confirm that I'm not crazy. He pointed out everything that Persky did wrong, from not shaving down sharp points in my nose, to leaving my nose crooked, the fact that the outer part of nostrils have completely collapsed preventing my from breathing properly, and that he incorrectly pulled cartilage in multiple places.
Please, if you're thinking about using this man for a nose job. Run in the opposite direction as fast as you can.
