RhiNOplasty.

In good faith, I cannot recommend Dr. J for facial plastics. Initially I was willing to overlook the following; the unprofessional experience with the PACU staff at Good Samaritan hospital, his inability to e-prescribe my pain medicine post-procedure (I overheard him trying to figure out the computer software Epic and impatiently giving up and writing a paper script ultimately delaying my pain management for several hours since I don’t live in the area and my family had to go hand-deliver it and wait for it to be filled), and one day later with no prior patient teaching or understanding of what was to transpire I did not take my pain medicine in a timeframe to be sufficient and his PA Hannah forcefully and traumatically removed the packing from my nose. I was left with no other option but to grip my partner's hand and scream out in pain. Fast forward, in less than one year my nasal surgery for a functional medical purpose failed and I sought evaluation from specialists at a major medical institution in Chicago. Upon considering my situation as a whole, the specialist stated that Dr. J’s surgical intervention was not appropriately executed and the operative report was incorrectly described, stating it took her some time to fully understand what had been done compared to how he chose to title the procedure itself. Despite his seemingly impressive journey into medicine (direct admit into a pre-med program out of high school) and dual fellowship training, she stated his operative report terminology read as if he was not trained in the United States. ?Furthermore, I had asked him about treatments to prevent scarring in the post-op period and he was unable to effectively recommend any topicals or procedures. It took me doing the research and asking him if it was appropriate for him to casually agree but state he doesn’t offer it. Ultimately I sought consult with my dermatologist who stated there were many interventions that would have been most effective in the immediate post-op period. Shocking for someone who is so invested in esthetics. In the end, his training is not focused in nasal surgeries, and it earned me a date with a reconstructive facial plastic surgeon and an excessive out-of-pocket estimate. If you are seeking facial plastics, find someone who is board-certified as an ENT with an additional plastic surgery fellowship and not general plastics with microsurgery/hand surgery as Dr. J is
