Rhinoplasty Outcome and Recovery Raised Serious Concerns
I am sharing this review to help future patients make a more informed decision.
At the beginning, everything appeared professional. I booked the surgery through Bookimed, the ratings were high, and communication via Telegram (Bookimed) and WhatsApp (clinic) was smooth. However, once I arrived in Turkey, several concerns emerged.
On the morning of the surgery, I was taken to a hospital that had not been clearly disclosed to me beforehand. I had not received prior information about this facility from either Bookimed or the clinic, which was unexpected and stressful on the day of surgery.
I met the doctor for the first time only minutes before the procedure. The consultation was brief. During this conversation, I was told not to expect an “ideal” result. This was concerning, as earlier I had been shown a 3D simulation of the expected outcome. While I did not expect perfection, I expected the result to be reasonably close to what had been presented.
The surgical process itself felt unsettling. I was taken to a cold underground floor with many people present, which appeared to be a teaching environment. I did not see the surgeon again until I was already being sedated, which caused significant anxiety.
Recovery from anesthesia was particularly difficult. I experienced intense shaking, trembling, and a strong sensation of cold for approximately 40 minutes, without what I perceived as adequate post-operative comfort during that time.
Post-surgery swelling was extreme compared to other rhinoplasty patients staying at the same hotel. My face was heavily bruised and swollen for an extended period.
After the casts were removed, the visible result did not resemble the 3D simulation. Over time, my nose appeared very similar to its pre-surgery state. I was repeatedly told that this was due to swelling and that it would improve.
It did not.
Nearly a year later, a CT scan showed misalignment of the nasal bones and bone overgrowth, indicating that the issue was structural rather than residual swelling.
Main concerns:
• The hospital was not clearly disclosed in advance
• Very limited pre-operative consultation with the surgeon
• Unusually severe swelling and bruising
• Final result showed no visible improvement, and a new hump appeared
• Concerns raised during follow-up were consistently attributed to swelling
As of January 2026, more than a year after the procedure, my nose looks essentially the same as before the surgery, and in some aspects worse.
My surgery was performed by Dr. Cem Altindag. I am sharing my personal experience and outcome so that others considering a similar procedure can make a fully informed decision.
