7 Months Post-op: Over-rotated, Over-projected & Still Crooked

WORTH IT
I had primary rhinoplasty with Dr. Tevfik Sözen on December 12, 2025. I waited seven months before writing this review because I wanted to give my nose enough time to heal before sharing my experience.

Unfortunately, I regret having this surgery. During my consultations, I repeatedly emphasized that I wanted a natural-looking nose. Instead, I ended up with a nose that is significantly over-projected and over-rotated.

The tip is much shorter and more upturned than what we discussed from certain angles it almost looks like I'm looking up at the ceiling through my nostrils, which is the opposite of what I asked for. This has also left a noticeable, unnatural gap in my philtrum area, and my upper lip no longer sits comfortably under my nose.

My nose is also still crooked. It just appears less visible now because the caudal septum was shortened and the tip was lifted, which visually minimizes the deviation from certain angles but the underlying crookedness hasn't actually been corrected.

I also had some pre-existing nostril asymmetry I hoped would be addressed, which remains largely unchanged.

Breathing has improved compared to before surgery, but it's still not normal, and I still notice reduced airflow through my left nostril. I expected both functional and cosmetic improvement, and I haven't achieved either to a satisfactory level.

The first two months post-op were genuinely one of the hardest periods I've been through, seeing how unnatural my nose looked every day. When I raised these concerns around the one-month mark, instead of having them addressed, I was told I likely have an anxiety disorder which felt dismissive of a legitimate concern about a surgical outcome, especially so early in recovery.

One of the most frustrating part is that I paid well above the average market price because I believed I was choosing one of the best surgeons available. Instead, I am now preparing myself emotionally and financially for revision rhinoplasty, which is substantially more complex and expensive than a primary procedure.

Looking at my current result, I genuinely struggle to understand what was accomplished during surgery besides making my nose shorter. My original concerns weren't resolved, and I aesthetically prefer my pre-operative nose over my current one.

As things stand today, I fully intend to pursue revision rhinoplasty after my one year mark.
