HORRIBLE AFTER 3 1/2 YEARS HEALING

I regret that my first review was so long--people don't read, so here's an abbreviated version and some pics:
I started with a small crooked nose that veered to the left that I couldn't breathe out of.
I paid $10,000 (and found out much after the surgery that my insurance shelled out an ADDITIONAL $9,500) for the anesthesia and functional aspect of surgery. I now have a crooked nose that veers to the left that I still can't breathe out of! Now though, one of my nostrils is severely retracted, I have a pronounced scar on my columella and the tip is fat and bulbous looking. I recently went to an ENT to see if anything could be done to help my breathing and he says that (and this is JUST HIS OPINION) that the collapsed nasal valve that my insurance paid for was never actually done. So disappointed, I keep telling myself that it's more important at this point in my life to just concentrate on healing my internal self but it's hard to look in mirror and have all this regret about the external. These are the only pics I feel comfortable sharing; I'm too embarrassed to share more but I think they give an idea of how the after looks worse. A crooked nose requires a specialist that ONLY WORKS WITH NOSES AND NOTHING ELSE!

Good Doctor but Not a Good Result.

I had a septo-rhinoplasty with Dr. Khosh in August of 2020. I had a small nose that was collapsed on one side and veered to my left with what most plastic surgeons called a “pinched” tip. (I actually liked the tip as I felt it gave me the illusion of a slimmer nose.) My nostrils were also asymmetrical. Breathing through my nose was difficult. Post surgery, my nose still veers to the left but now I have a fat bulbous looking tip. My nose also has a more upturned quality, something as a man I definitely did not want. My nostrils are still asymmetrical but look worse now because they are two different shapes. Pre-surgery, they were both more teardrop shaped. Now, one is teardrop shaped and the other is more round in shape. The base view is not good and my surgical scar is clearly visible on one side. Also, one of my nostrils is markedly retracted on the front view; the retraction is also visible on the three-quarter view. My breathing remains unchanged. Needless to say, I am beyond disappointed as I waited until very late in life to have this procedure done. Aside from being double board certified and having very nice before and after pictures on his website, I chose Dr. Khosh because I felt like he was listening to what I had to say and that I could communicate with him. He doesn’t have the arrogant disposition of your typical plastic surgeon and seemed open to my concerns and comments. I do understand the whole concept of “shrink wrapping” and how everyone heals differently, and the concept of “cartilage memory” (meaning that the nose wants to revert to its pre-surgery form) but I do believe my nose was a lot more complicated than your average rhinoplasty. Dr. Khosh agreed that the final result was not really good, that he would also want a better result for himself, but stated that a revision surgery would be “very challenging”. I decided not to do a revision based on that statement and on the result of the first surgery and also because my healing overall was a difficult one. I developed an infection immediately after surgery and experienced major swelling for the entire first year. All things considered, I would recommend Dr. Khosh for your typical rhinoplasty, i.e., removing a large bump or downsizing a large nose, but for something more complex, I would say go to a doctor that specializes in only noses. I did go to one doctor who is known for doing only noses but he told me that my breathing “might be better, but it might be worse” and he said that “it might actually look bigger” afterwards. I wish I had listened to him and not had the surgery done at all. I could have saved myself a whole lot of money and a lot of heartache and the trauma of surgery and healing. I also have to live with the fact that I actually now look worse than I did pre-surgery.
