5 days PO - Rhinoplasty to address a hump on my nose and drooping tip

Rhinoplasty Journey

I had my rhinoplasty 5 days ago. I went to Dr. H mainly to address a hump on my nose and because the tip drooped a bit, even more so when smiling. I am hoping for the hump to be removed, the droop to be fixed, and for a more defined tip. So far the healing process has been a breeze. I have not had excessive bruising or pain and I did not have a lot of bleeding after the surgery. The biggest pain for this whole process have been my stitches, which only hurt the first few days, and I am having extreme discomfort with my throat from the tube when I was under. With this said, the office has been very helpful answering my questions (even on the weekend!) and prescribing medication to help with my throat issue.

The only thing I am a bit worried about are my nostrils. I had some nostril asymmetry prior to the surgery (that I never really noticed), but now that my nostrils are the only thing I can see, I see that I have a lot of asymmetry and it almost looks like my columella is sideways. However, I know I am EXTREMELY early on in my journey and I am sure swelling is playing a lot into this.

Tomorrow is 6 days post surgery where I get my cast removed and I get to speak with the doctor. I will continue to update!

Cast Off Day

Just got my cast taken off less than an hour ago!

Aside from the cast removal I also had some stitches removed and steri strip tape put on my nose. The tape is to assist with the swelling near where the hump was removed. The cast and stitch removal was painless, getting the tape put on there was some discomfort over the area where my hump was- but it was not bad at all.

I am extremely happy with my nose, but there still is a lot of swelling. As the swelling goes down, Dr. H said I will be able to see my columella and nose tip look more defined. He also said the asymmetry in my nostrils should also even out as the swelling goes down. I have another appointment in a week to check up, remove the steri tape, and remove the other stitches.

Extremely happy with the results, Dr. H never disappoints!

I will continue to update swelling and healing.

3 Weeks Post Op

cccann
3 Weeks Post Op. Taping where my hump was about 90% of the time (lucky enough to WFH) to prevent scar tissue build up where the hump was.

Swelling has gone down tremendously, mainly on the sides and especially on tip of nose. So far the healing process has been a breeze. There were days, especially right after cast removal, that I was worried about uneven-ness or my nose looking big. However, I have been trusting the process and am extremely pleased with how things are healing. Day by day everything is looking better and better, and it’s only going to improve!

My favorite part of my nose is that it is so natural looking. I have gone out to see friends, coworkers, family, etc. and nobody has noticed I even had any work done! I love how natural Dr. H’s results are.

I have another follow up in about a month. Excited to see how my nose looks then!
