My Rhinoplasty Journey with Dr Mirza Firat
WORTH IT
On the 8th of July I landed in Istanbul. We booked a private taxi transfer from and to the airport for 45 euros each way. We stayed at the Gorrion hotel, which was lovely.

The day of surgery - I was asked to be at the Memorial Hospital by Mirza’s assistant Anis for 10am and my surgery would be at 2pm.
On arrival Anis met us in the lobby and escorted us to an office where my passport was scanned and personal details were noted. We were then shown to my room which was very modern and clean. At 11am Dr Mirza entered to conduct my consultation, this later for approx 5 minutes, how ever everything he said fitted what I was going to ask for anyway. He asked if I had any questions but I had none which had not already been previously answered. My blood was taken by one of the nurses then Anis provided paperwork for me to fill out and asked what my weight was... this worried me as previously having surgery before the hospital should weight you on the day, this did not happen. At 13:30 I made my way to the operating room, I had a little cry although I was not nervous. I do not remember falling asleep, although waking up I remember I felt very sick. Once back into my room and abit clearer minded, Mirza entered to let us know how it went, and he said he was really happy. A nurse entered and places two gloves filled with ice over my eyes. I felt no pain at all although I felt sick for the rest of the day and was in fact sick 4 times throughout the rest of the day and night in the hospital. The nurses are nice although can not understand much English.

I managed to sleep for 4 hours, and was woke by the nurses at 5am to administered another load of painkillers through the drip. By 9am Anis provided me with ocean spray to keep my nose clean, ointment for the scars, painkillers and antibiotics. Anis said I should come back on Thursday to have my packing taken out. By 11am I was ok to go back to the hotel. I relaxed and stayed in the hotel once back, even ordering room service due to the uncomfortable feeling from my packing in my nose.

Woke up with a majorly swollen face, but no bruising! Anis had messaged me to say the packaging wouldn’t be coming out till Friday under Mirza’s orders. This packaging was probably the worst part of the whole recovery as they are so uncomfortable! I went for a walk by the hotel to get some air although wasn’t feeling all that active so remained at the hotel.

I was looking forward to getting my packaging out today BUT Anis called my and said due to my thick skin the healing can take longer so Mirza wants to take the packing out on Saturday! And to do this I will have to travel 50 minutes away to his clinic rather than the hospital. My face is till swollen and I feel quite irritable due to the packing.

The day is here to get this packing out!!!! Anis recommended getting the metro to travel the 50 minutes to the clinic, but for me less stress is better! So we got a taxi, this cane to 80 Turkish lira, working out around £12. Once at the clinic Mirza didn’t say much, he took my packing out which was painless and not uncomfortable at all! I could breath!!! He recommended how to tape my nose at night and how long for, but he did not take my cast off which I was not happy about. He said I should wear it for a further week. I was expecting to be given a list or something to say what to do for after care but I was not provided with this.

GOING HOME! I can’t even tell you how happy I was to be going home!
19/07/19
Anis said I would be ok to shower 4 days after I was home, so I did, and my cast softened and eventually slid off. I immediately cleaned my nose and swelling began so I taped my nose for the whole day and night.

I cleaned my nose and was overwhelmed with how my nose was looking, I was happy.
Over the following days my nose has changed size, definition, everything which is expected and I understand it take 4 months to a year to see the final result. I’m taking each day as it comes but so far I’m happy with how it is turning out.
For anyone thinking of going to Mirza please keep in mind, this surgery will be in a foreign country, the culture and language is completely different! The processes they go through will not be the same as a UK surgery.
Anyone with any questions please message me I’m happy to help!

Hi, thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad you're happy with the results! I also have very thick skin and I'm on the (never ending) hunt for a doctor in Turkey. I am thinking of Mirza Firat but I haven't seen enough thick skinned patients of his. Would you say your swelling has gone down yet? Could you share more pics please? Thanks!
Hi did you go with Firat? I think I have thick skin and am overwhelmed with so many doctors in turkey. I have many I am thinking about but having trouble deciding who to go with!
Hi, I couldn't tell from the picture but does he cut the columella? Like are there visible stitches? Or does he do scarless rhinoplasty? Thank you!

Congratulations! Can't wait to see your final results!
