Beware of Philip Young! Please check his credential on Washington State Department of Health website -- his medical license is pending to be revoked due to so many complaints of medical negligence and unprofessional conduct!! You can actually read the charges against him when you do a Provider Credential Search with his name.I was foolish not to do any research and regrettable had rhinoplasty done with Dr. Young. It was supposed to be a simple rhinoplasty with implant. My original nose did not look bad, but I just wanted a slight improvement. However, I ended up getting a terrible infection from the rhinoplasty -- and the infection was not detected until I informed Dr. Young of it! The tip of my nose eventually eroded away because of the infection. Dr. Young did not take the appropriate steps to stop my infection. He wasted a year of my time just treating me with antibiotics and performing "mini" surgeries to suture the wound. But none of this helped; this actually made my nose become completely deformed. My infection only stopped when the nose implant was taken out by another surgeon. I ended up having to get a very invasive reconstructive surgery done from this new surgeon, and this took about two years to fix. My nose still does not look normal. I am a young, single female, and this nightmare has made me feel very self-conscious and I am no longer the social person I once was. I wouldn't want anyone to experience what I have gone through. Please do your research on Philip Young and do not make the same mistake I did.

I need to send you a message.
I sent you a message back!
omg my heart goes out to you. thank you for posting your review, it is so important to get the word out. I know there is nothing i can say to make ur situation better but i know all about loss of self esteem and social life. Life is just not the same after a bad surgery. I hope you keep staying strong and get some compensation for your unnecessary suffering.
Hi E.m.k, I went to read your post, and I empathize with you 100%!!! I wish I can turn back time and never had the surgery.. I was never an unattractive person, and all I wanted was a slight adjustment... I was at a very dark place for two years after my surgery; I was so depressed and almost suicidal... I let myself gain over 70 pounds, and I literally did not leave the house for a year and a half. But fortunately, I had a loving, understanding family that helped me get through that difficult time. I can hope you have a strong support group to keep you positive and see that there are still things to be thankful about!! I wish you all the best, and hopefully you can find a qualified surgeon who can possibly make your situation better. You'll be in my prayers tonight!
I wrote a couple of times when I knew people were going to chose him as a plastic surgeon and told them to seek another plastic surgeon. I am glad he may finally never touch another person again ----- I am so sorry but so happy you found someone to help you
Thank you for your support! And thank you for staying active to spread the word -- I have noticed that you have commented on various occasions about Philip Young and I sincerely appreciate it, Marathon Mom!!! :-)
"I am glad he may finally never touch another person again" It's possible he has gotten better from all this. Penalties like the fine & these reviews are meant to have a corrective effect.
Thanks for your review. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I am just reading that report - everything in it seems to support what reviewers here have said about him.
We are sorry that you had this experience with us. It hurts us to hear this and know that you had this outcome. Our team lives and breathes the work we do to achieve the best results and to avoid complications. With that said, the infection rate at our institution is exceptionally low. Over the past 6 years, Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery's infection rate has been less than 1% (0.63% is our actual infection rate). Based on the National Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (NNIS) System, this is much better than the national average. Nationally, infections were reported to be 2.1% for clean surgeries, 3.3% clean-contaminated, 6.4% contaminated and 7.1% dirty (Culver DH, Horan TC, Gaynes RP, Martone WJ, Jarvis WR, Emori TG, et al. Surgical wound infection rates by wound class, operative procedure, and patient risk index. National Nosocomial Infections Surveillance System. Am J Med 1991; 91(3B): 152S-157S.). Nasal Surgeries are generally considered to be clean-contaminated surgeries. Our infection rate (of less than 1%) is significantly lower than the National average (of 3.3%). Of course, statistics are one thing and if an individual patient gets an infection, it will feel 100% to that person. Regarding the referenced Washington State Department of Health issue, we are working with the department to investigate these complaints. Our aspirational goal is 0% infections. We see this as an opportunity to continually improve and we will work with the Department of Health to make changes to allow us to excel as an institution. Most importantly, we put our excellence into patient care. Dr. Young and his team meet weekly to discuss our patient care and how we can improve as a team. Our institution has undergone 2 rigorous surveys by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and has been accredited by them since August 2011. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) is a private, non-profit organization that develops standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality care, and value for ambulatory health care through peer-based accreditation processes, education, and research. A certificate of accreditation is awarded to organizations that are found to be in compliance with AAAHC Standards. AAAHC currently accredits more than 5,000 organizations in a wide variety of ambulatory health care settings. They are also the official accrediting organization for the US Air Force and the US Coast Guard. Again, we are sorry that you had this experience with us. We wish that you would have had a better experience. From our perspective, one patient with an infection is one too many. We also wish you the best in terms of your continual healing. We will do everything we can for you, as we have in the past. You can contact us at contactus@drphilipyoung.com. This email is forwarded straight to Dr. Young. We will do everything we can to help.
