Wouldn’t Recommend This Surgeon for a Rhinoplasty
I had a rhinoplasty with this surgeon in 2017. Unfortunately I didn’t do very thorough research, as the clinic I went through told me he was a very experienced rhino surgeon and assured me I’d be in safe hands. The whole plastic surgery thing was very new to me, and I was unprepared.
After the surgery, my hump remained, despite being the only concern I’d had with my nose, and I was left with a big dent in my nose in addition. I was given no aftercare advice on cleaning, massaging, taping. Unfortunately it was clear after a couple of months that it was botched.
I understand that surgeries go wrong. What made the situation so hard, was that I had to wait months at a time for a response from the surgeon re aftercare and how to we could fix it. Often after months of waiting, I’d go and meet him in clinic and he’d tell me it was straight, and it was ‘in my head’, once even holding a pencil up to my bent nose, saying it was the same, smirking. At other times, he’d agree it wasn’t right and add filler (and not at all well). I’d often leave his clinic in tears. It was very inconsistent. I didn’t feel like he cared about my outcome, or my well-being.
He did offer me a revision, which I asked for the cost for on a few occasions. Luckily, I never heard back, as he wasn’t going to do a graft, and my revision surgeon said this was absolutely essential to rebuild my nose.
After about 4 years of feeling gaslit, with a shattered self-esteem, I approached an expert rhinoplasty surgeon and now know what I should have experienced the first time round. From the morphs in the initial consultation, to having my surgery on time and not being made to be NBM until 5pm, to having a response to my questions about post care the same day when I email the office.
My nose is finally what I hoped for, and the aftercare has been wonderful.
I’m sure Mark is a brilliant breast surgeon, but I would not recommend people see him for a rhinoplasty.
