Revision with prof. Gilbert Nolst Trenite, Amsterdam
ORIGINAL POST
I am having a revision with professor Nolst Trenite.
Having a Revision with Prof. Dr. Gilbert Nolst Trenité. Anyone else Had a Rhinoplasty with Him?
So, i am finally having a revision done, with Professor Nolst Trenite from the Netherlands. I have read alot of good things about him, seen youtube videos etc. but i have not seen to many reviews online. I am extremely nervous and anxious about this, but i do believe im in good hands. I would just like to hear from someone else that have been there too.
This will be my 5th nose job, as i had 3 previous ones with a norwegian surgeon that did a VERY poor job. I had my 4th with dr. David Edwin Kim in Beverly Hills, California that fixed alot of the problems i had, but he failed to make my nose tip stay up. He said ca a year after my surgery that i could come back for a new surgery to get donor rib cartilage placed in my nose, since my nose was weaker than he thought. I was of course very upset that he couldnt do it while i was there the first time, as i had travveled all the way from Norway to California. Unfortunately i couldnt afford going back at that time, so i was stuck with a droopy nose. I tried to contact him about 6 months ago and he said i could benefit from a thing called medpor in my nose to help make the nose tip stay up while smiling and talking. I of course got extatic and asked if he would be willing to help me out, and what the cost of a surgery like that would be. Then all of a sudden he said he didn't think i would benefit from getting medpor placed in there afterall, and then stopped answering my emails. So i gave up.
Been searching for other surgeons, and ended up with prof. Nolst Trenite that are a specialist on grafts and generally good with noses.
I sent him pictures and a video of my self, said that i want to have a more defined nosetip, a slight lift, and a bit shorter nose.
He will also use ear cartilage to rebuild my nose.
I just hope I end up with a nose i can love.
I HATE the way it looks now. So bulbous from the front view, and the way it droops when i smile. My one nostril that are way higher than the other, and how crooked it looks from my right side view.
I hope to hear from any of you that have had a surgery with this Dr. :-)

Hi MaeMae,
Sounds like you've been through quite a bit with your nose. A bad surgery can definitely open a can of worms. I haven't seen much about Dr. Menger here on RS. From just glancing at his website though, seems like you'll be in good hands: his practice focuses only on rhinoplasty. However, he has very little presence online it seems (it's hard to find a patient review anywhere). This could mean nothing, but it could also be a major red flag. One question though, why not just return to Dr. Kim? If you know he is good enough to get your nose this far "recovered", why not ask him to fix was you don't like about it?

I deff have. I wish i never went to my first surgeon :-( he ruined so much..
Dr Menger seems very good at what he does, but its like you say, i can not find any reviews on him. Just a couple of people wich have been very satisfied with their results.
I have also tried to contact dr. Kim again. After my review with him i contacted him a year post-op concerned about the tip of my nose still being so droopy and bulbous. He said that the tissue in my nose were weaker thanhe thought, and that i could come back to get a transplant from my rib put in there, to get more support. Well, i couldnt afford going back so soon because of the dept i had from the previous surgeries. I contacted him last year again though, and asked if there still was any possibilites to get any help with the issue. At first he said yes, and that i could benefit from getting something called Medpor into the tip of my nose. I was of course extatic and asked how much i would cost. He didnt reply to my email, until i sent one more. Then all of a sudden he didnt find it nescesseary after all, and that i would probably not benefit from it anyways. So now i dont know what to do. I would love to go back to him since he have touched my nose before, but when he turns me down in such way i dont know what to think.

I'd keep being persistent with Dr. Kim. Maybe try to set up an appointment to see him in person. If he's just looking at photos then it's hard to evaluate truly how bad it looks. Also, be very clear with what you don't like the most just because he might not be willing to do all the changes you want. Even if Dr. Kim charges for another procedure, I think you'll be financially better. It feels wrong to have to pay your revision surgeon twice because some doctors don't charge for revisions. However, the alternative of having a doctor unfamiliar with your nose and potentially incompetent is not worth the risk.

You are so brave for traveling, first to the USA and now to the Netherlands. I hope that after this surgery, you will find peace with your nose and can move on with your life. All the best to you!

Good luck with your revision! I was considering Dr Trenite myself, but in the end I chose dr Ion from London. Are you nervous? It's so soon! Mine is month away and I'm already super nervous... best of luck with everything! Keep us updated!

Best of luck in your surgery. Sorry that a surgeon from my country treated you like that. To be honest, I think many of the surgeons in LA and Beverly Hills are way overrated anyway. Overpriced, overrated, and super egotistical. (Not all, but some.) Sending good vibes your way! Fingers crossed! :)
UPDATED FROM maemae1234
Consultation day!
So today arrived in Amsterdam and had my consultation with prof Trenite. I could not be happier with how that went! We had the exact same ideas with my nose, and he pointed out everything i had in my mind that i want to have done. He was very welcoming and such a nice person, so i dont understand that attitude people say he has! He had printed out all the emails we had been writing back and forth wich he brought to the consultation and we talked for about 30 minutes. :-) tomorrow is the big day! My nerves i have had prior to coming here, is gone after meeting the professor.. :-) hoping that this will be my last rhinoplasty.

Are you happy with your new nose? I would love to see a picture, because I am considering him, too. Wish you all the best

This nose will be lovely and exactly what i wanted once all the swelling goes down. I do so far not regret choosing Prof. Nolst Trenite. My whole experience with him have been amazing, and he has very good bedside manners aswell. I am 7 days out now, and i had to change the steri strips today as they were falling off, but i took pictures and will post them on here. :-)
