Happy As Can Be
WORTH IT
I had a few consults before meeting with Dr. Rival for a rhinoplasty; other surgeons tried to sell me on a procedure that would change the entire shape and look of my nose. One included tip reduction; tip rotation; reducing the size of my nasal wings; straightening my deviated septum; and reducing my dorsal hump. The prices quoted to me from other surgeon office’s were well over $10,000 CAD. These discussions left me feeling overwhelmed and, frankly, created insecurities in myself I had not had prior. Dr. Rival on the other hand, had a much more conservative approach. He said the only work my nose required was a dorsal hump reduction, and a straightening of my deviated septum, all of which could be done with a closed rhinoplasty. He assured me my tip rotation was fine, and that my nose did not need to be slimmed. My surgery would leave me with natural results that would compliment my overall face. He also communicated that I may never get a 100% straight nose but that it would be 90-95% better than what I had. This is what impressed me the most, since he kept my expectations realistic, and did not promise me something a surgeon simply cannot achieve. I was then quoted well under $10,000 CAD.
Going through procedure was a breeze. Dr. Rival’s bedside manner was great. I suffered a mild panic attack when waking up from anesthesia and he stood by me until I was calm. The actual recovery was much easier than I could ever anticipated. As someone who bruises easily, I was pleasantly surprised that I had minimal bruising post-op. I was given prescription pain killers that weren’t necessary since the pain was minimal. Extra strength Tylenol was all that was required when I was feeling a little sore. Additionally, the office was very good about following up with me to see how I was handling recovery and reassured me they were available for any questions I have.
Once the cast was off, I could see my results immediately. It looked exactly like my nose but better. The hump was removed, and I could breathe better than I had ever been able to. The results are very natural and compliment my overall face beautifully.
In terms of office personal Lyne is extremely sweet and helpful. There is occasionally a delay in getting my emails answered but this is to be expected since they manage two separate offices (one in Newmarket and one in Toronto); and I’m sure they have many, many patients to deal with.
Overall, the experience was a positive one. I’ve gotten nothing but positive responses from friends and family regarding my nose, and I make sure to recommend Dr. Rival to all.
