It's Happening! I'm Finally Getting My Dream Nose!

Implants, Ear Cartilage, or Rib Cartilage? Which One Is Right for You? Based on My Experience.

WORTH IT

I’m sharing my experience because I know a lot of Asian patients struggle with the same concern: having little to no natural nose bridge while still wanting a higher, defined nose.

Originally, I had almost no nose bridge at all, although my nasal tip was already relatively high. From the beginning, my biggest priority was safety. I wanted a significant height increase, but I was also very scared of implant extrusion or other complications, especially after hearing about cases where an L-shaped implant caused problems.

I ended up having my rhinoplasty in Gangnam, Seoul, at Mooi. One thing I really appreciated was that they advised me against using an L-shaped implant because of the potential risks. Instead, my surgeon used a combination of an I-shaped implant, ear cartilage, and rib cartilage to achieve the height and structure I wanted while prioritizing stability and safety.

I also had my nostrils reduced because my nostrils were naturally quite wide.

The combination worked really well for me. As you can see in my photos, I was able to achieve a much higher and more defined bridge while also getting a more refined nose shape. The structure feels very solid and stable, which was exactly what I wanted.

I’m now 6 months post-op, and so far I haven’t experienced any pain, discomfort, or noticeable displacement. Of course, everyone's anatomy and surgical results are different, so I’m only sharing my personal experience and what worked for me.

For anyone considering rhinoplasty, especially Asian patients who want a higher bridge, I think it’s really important to discuss implant type, cartilage options, your anatomy, and long-term safety with your surgeon rather than simply choosing the method that gives the highest bridge.

For me, I’m very happy that I was able to achieve the height I wanted without using an L-shaped implant and, most importantly, without constantly worrying about it failing.

It's Happening! I'm Finally Getting My Dream Nose!

6 months ago, I had my plastic surgery at Mooi Gangnam in South Korea.

Traveling alone wasn't easy, especially when you're going to another country for surgery. Fortunately, the Mooi team was incredibly responsive and never made me feel worried throughout the process. They also have an Indonesian team, which made communication so much easier and made me feel safe and well taken care of.

On the day of my surgery, I had quite a long list of things I wanted to enhance. I wanted to improve my nose bridge, nostrils, and tip, but I still wanted everything to look as natural as possible.

For my procedure, I ended up using rib cartilage, an implant, and ear cartilage. I honestly thought the recovery would take a really long time, but surprisingly, I was able to remove my cast after just 7 days and walk around pretty much like normal.

I couldn't really get up much during the first 1–3 days because my ribs were definitely sore, but after that, I was able to go out and walk around. The swelling wasn't as bad as I expected either, and the incision on my nose was minimal.

Now it's been 6 months, and I honestly love how natural my nose looks. People can tell that something about me looks different, but they can't quite figure out what it is. They just say I look… better.

And honestly, that's exactly what I wanted. I didn't want to look like a completely different person. I just wanted to look like a better version of myself.
