Great Experience, Beautiful Results and Amazing Staff!

WORTH IT

I am so glad I did not listen to the very few bad reviews on here because I don’t think I would have been this happy post rhinoplasty if I did!

Dr Solomon has been performing these surgeries for over 20 years, he knows exactly what he is doing which is why I do not care to have lengthy consultations with him over what will be done. I do not need to tell him how to do his job, because he is a professional and amazing at what he does. I never once showed him a picture of what I wanted because he knows what will look best for me and on my face specifically. He did just that, I am only two weeks post-op and I am in love with my new nose, it can only get better as more swelling goes down! It is everything I envisioned and more. I love the natural look he accomplished. I look like an enhanced version of myself, the best compliments I’ve received is that I look like I was born with this nose which is exactly what I wanted!

The process was very easy. I had the FaceTime consultation with Nurse Hanna and Dr Solomon where we discussed what would be changed, then again in person where he used digital imaging to show me an idea of what will be done. Remember this is just imaging and in no way a guarantee of what the final outcome will be. Since I had to get some tip work done as well as remove the dorsal hump the computer is not able to show all the fine details but trust in his process. I then went for a COVID test 5 days prior to my surgery, I was nervous about this but don’t be it is only a bit uncomfortable but over before you know it.

The day of surgery I was a bit nervous but it helps to do your research. I knew exactly what was going to be happening at every step of the process. This made me feel more comfortable. I had mine done at the clinic which makes you feel as if you’re at the spa for the day. The clinic is very clean and beautifully designed. This very kind nurse prepped me for surgery (I wish I remembered her name I was a bit nervous at this time). I have a big fear of needles so we bonded over that and she made me feel at ease. After I was prepped the anesthesiologist came in to speak to me, he was very kind and answered any questions I had, he would be administering/monitoring my IV and anaesthesia. Dr Solomon came in right before surgery to assess my nose one last time and go over our goals to make sure we were on the same page. I then went into the surgery room. Since the needle was my big fear, I was so happy with the anesthesiologist as he made me feel so comfortable with the IV, he spoke to me every step of the way. It was the smallest pinch and it was over! As soon as the IV was in the anaesthesia was administered.

I woke up around one to two hours later to Nurse Vesta checking on me. She is absolutely amazing! From the moment I woke up to the day of my cast removal, she was there 24/7 to answer my questions. I would message her regarding a question about my recovery process and she would answer right away no matter what time. She is such a kind person and very knowledgable nurse. I am so glad I had her there for me throughout this process as this was my first surgery and everything was very new to me. I also want to give a shout-out to nurse Hanna, I bought skincare products as my skin was very dry after the surgery. She promised to call me regarding this and she did the very next day. You do not feel like just another number or another patient with these nurses. I cannot recommend them enough.

The recovery process wasn’t comfortable but was not painful at all. I stopped taking the painkillers after day one and only took Tylenol maybe once a day afterwards until I felt relatively normal day 5. The worst part was being congested as you aren’t able to clean your nose that well, but listen to all the post-op advise, the saline spray saved my life and I was cleaning my nose probably 4 times a day, it really helped. I started to be able to breathe through my nose around day 5. Day 2 and 3 were probably my worst days for congestion as well as I had extremely dry eyes (I had dry eyes to begin with) but my eyes post rhinoplasty were worse likely due to the bruising, I noticed my eyes wouldn’t completely shut because of this bruising. THIS IS NOT PERMANENT. After the third day, they felt better. I am a stomach sleeper so it was hard to get a good sleep the first couple of days trying to get used to sleeping elevated and on my back but I started to sleep well after day 3. The recovery period again is not painful, it is just simply uncomfortable as if you have a cold. I recommend buying multiple Saline Sprays (I went through 3 bottles) and 2 bottles of hydrogen peroxide. I found the below very useful to have during my recovery:

Saline spray (3 bottles) - hydra-sense medium stream

Hydrogen peroxide (2 bottles)

Qtips (went through two packs)

Biotene dry mouth spray (this spray tastes like mint and was very helpful the first two days for me - maybe even longer for you depending on how dry your mouth gets after mouth breathing)

Gauze (for under my nose as my nose was lightly bleeding for the first 2 days)

Medical tape (this is important as the medical tape is not as harsh and can be used on the skin without any irritation, you can find this at your local pharmacy)

Tylenol

Vaseline for lips (you will have very dry lips due to mouth breathing for a couple of weeks)

Stool softener pills (you can take what works for you but I did need these after surgery as I was unable to go to the washroom for two days afterwards, these helped and I’ve been regular since)

Artificial tear eye drops (these saved my life that week as I had extremely dry eyes like I mentioned) I was using these constantly, I had the one time use non preservative ones since I was using these multiple times in the day.

Overall, the process was great, the staff was absolutely incredible and Dr. Solomon is an artist. You can trust that he will do an amazing job and you will be happy! Everyone I have shown is in awe of his talents and I recommend him to everyone looking for a facial plastic surgeon. Those looking to get Botox/filler please go to Nurse Vesta and Hanna that work in Dr Solomons Thornhill location. They are amazing and extremely knowledgable!

I know when I was researching I was more comforted knowing each step of the process and knowing almost exactly what to expect so I hope this helps anyone looking to get a rhinoplasty done.
