No Functional Issues Prior - Now Fast Tracked ENT Assessment
I am based in the UK and wanted to undergo a minor cosmetic rhinoplasty with Dr. Kanodia at his clinic, and I got fooled by the so-called success stories and high-profile case studies showcased on their website. I only wanted a sliver removed from the dorsal hump and above the tip. I was perfectly healthy and had zero functional or breathing issues. Below is an outline of the horrendous experience I endured at every stage.
Despite knowing I was flying in from abroad, the clinic moved my initial consultation from the day before surgery to the DAY OF THE PROCEDURE, presenting it as though no other options were available. On the day of surgery, they further delayed the consultation from the morning to the afternoon at SHORT NOTICE. Given my tight travel schedule, I had no realistic choice but to accept this modified timeline.
This delay resulted in an EXTREMELY RUSHED consultation immediately prior to surgery. Rather than taking my input, the surgeon dictated his own approach and quickly scribbled a rough sketch, seemingly more focused on keeping to the contracted anaesthesiologist’s schedule than discussing the procedure. As a result, I entered the operating theatre without ever having reviewed or agreed upon a concrete surgical plan.
One month after surgery, I expressed initial dissatisfaction regarding pinching at the nasal tip, which the clinic attributed to standard post-surgical swelling. I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, over time, the pinching, flattening, and over-rotation of the tip worsened, and I noticed excessive narrowing of the bridge (I NEVER asked for my bridge to be narrowed). I continued updating their coordinator on my condition, and after three months of persistent requests, Dr. Kanodia agreed to a Zoom call where he simply reiterated that it was just swelling.
Following no improvement, the doctor agreed to a second follow-up call. During this call, instead of addressing my physical symptoms, he called me “irrational” and stated, “you love to complain.” He then added, “NO ONE TOLD YOU TO GET A NOSE JOB.” It was in that moment I realised that the very surgeon who had told me I was the “perfect candidate” for his technique during our initial sales call was now refusing to take any responsibility for the outcome. Since January, the clinic has STOPPED RESPONDING to my emails entirely.
I now experience significant nasal discomfort and breathing difficulties that severely impact my sleep, forcing me to sleep on my side or use elevated pillow support. I suffer from SEVERE HEADACHES that were not present prior to surgery, recurrent sinus issues, persistent inflammation and non-allergic rhinitis, alongside throbbing, burning, and ELECTRIC-SHOCK-type sensations along the sides of my nasal bridge that make wearing glasses painful.
When I inhale, part of my nose visibly caves inward and occasionally produces bizarre squeaking or creaking sounds. My nose feels structurally tender and unsupported given so much cartilage has been resected, and I have since been fast-tracked for an ENT investigation here in the UK to assess structural complications, including potential nasal-valve and mid-vault collapse.
What I hoped would be a SIMPLE PROCEDURE with minor anatomical refinements and a quick recovery has ultimately cost me my physical wellbeing and has severely deteriorated my mental health. Two years that should have been spent advancing my career, pursuing opportunities, and enjoying my youth have instead been consumed by medical appointments, therapy, and rebuilding my self-confidence. I am sharing my story to encourage prospective patients to look beyond social media marketing gimmicks and consultation bravado, so they can make truly informed decisions.
I really regret not consulting with surgeons who have better reviews such as Dr Dugar !!!
The doctor and his clinic frequently boast about making people’s dreams come true, but what I have endured has been an absolute nightmare.
