Dr Rival changed my life
WORTH IT$8,000
I don’t know where to begin ! Everything has been amazing with dr rival from start to end. I am obsessed and in love with my new nose and it is exactly what I wanted and more. I honestly believe Dr Rival deserves far more positive reviews and praise than he receives. I am now about 6 weeks post op and clearly still swollen in the tip. I also have a slight bump on the side of my bridge, which dr rival reassured was swelling and will pass with time, but honestly is not very noticeable.
For some context, I watched probably 100-200 nose job vlogs/ experiences / reviews on YouTube before my surgery. I knew exactly what to expect in all respects and had spent hours and hours doing my research as this was something I wanted for a looooong time :) I was super insecure about my nose and had all my pictures from head on. I avoided having anyone see me from the side profile at all costs because I was very embarrassed about my aggressive dorsal hump. I am 19 years old for reference!
Consultation & Pre-op
I had met with one surgeon before dr rival and had a friend who also got her nose done by dr rival several months prior and had a beautiful result. When I went in for the consultation with my mom he was extremely attentive, kind , and realistic with exactly what he wanted and could do for me. He really made an effort to address all of my moms MANY questions and concerns and did not rush the consultation at all (something which I experienced with other surgeons). I wanted a slightly sloped tip, but dr rival strongly suggested doing so in my case and I am glad I listened.
Day of Surgery
It went by very quickly and smoothly. Dr rival went over everything with me right before I went into the OR and I believe my surgery was less than an hour and a half in total. My surgery was in the late afternoon of December 21st and I took one pill that night for a precaution.
Recovery
Sleeping the first night was difficult because I held off from buying mouth spray (#1 necessity for the surgery. I had extremely minimal bruising but I did experience very bad swelling. The pain level was 0 - I have had period cramps a million time worse than any pain during this whole process. I slept sitting up in my bed the first 4-5 nights, which didn’t bother me because I would fall asleep instantly. The hardest part was dealing with the boredom. I had watched at least 50 episodes of Netflix that week and still felt like I needed to kill time. My surgery was right before Christmas (dec 21) so many of my friends were away / busy with families for the latter of my recovery which definitely contributed. I also did the nasal rinsing between 3-5 times daily which really helped get rid of dried blood. I got my cast off on the 27th (6 days after my surgery). I was EXTREMELY swollen to the point where I could not decide how I felt about the result - but the profile was looking very cute!!! Dr rival was away for my cast removal, so dr finkelstein removed it and he was great at answering all my questions and concerns
Post cast removal updates
My swelling went down dramatically each day for the first 2 weeks after getting the cast off. I wore tape each night and during many of the days since I had the luxury of being on winter break. I was going to malls and restaurants and essentially completely back to regular life. I slept with 2-3 pillows under my head for probably 2 weeks after the cast removal because I really wanted to do whatever I could to help reduce swelling. I got back to very light exercise about 3 and a half /4 weeks after my surgery, starting with very light cardio , weights, yoga, etc. I did notice my nose would swell very slightly if I did intense cardio (stair master, running, spin) but would quickly return to normal.
OVERALL I am very very happy. Dr rival changed my life in all honesty. I know there are comments about difficulty and a busy secretary - that is such a minimal inconvenience and in the grand scheme of things it truly shouldn’t matter if you have to leave a voicemail or not. I had no complaints or issues with Shannon, and she actually called me when there was a cancellation for the exact day I had been eyeing. I recommend dr rival 100% and cannot wait for my nose to get cuter and cuter as time goes on :)
