Rhinoplasty with Dr. Min Ahn in Massachusetts
Rhinoplasty with Dr. Min Ahn in Massachusetts
I’m so excited to begin this process! I have had my consultation with Dr. Min Ahn for rhinoplasty and my procedure is less than 3 weeks away. I spent a lot of time researching for the right doctor who had lots of before/after photos from previous rhinoplasty procedures, and with his office only being 1.5 hours away from my house, I was 98% certain I was going to go with Dr Ahn for my rhinoplasty. The in person consultation only confirmed it for me. First I went and had photos taken of face from every angle and then I met with Dr. Ahn. He is kind and sincere and took time to look at my nose from every angle (including inside of it!) The first thing he asked was why I was there, what I wanted out of this procedure in terms of changes to my nose. I informed him that I want to get rid off the dorsal hump in my side profile, and that I didn’t want to change the look of my nose very much from the front except maybe slightly slimming the bridge of my nose. He agreed with everything I said and validated with measurements that it would make for a much more feminine nose that I will be pleased with. He asked if I wanted it straight or slightly sloped. I opted for a slightly sloped (profile) nose and he agreed he will make it ever so slight and it will make a difference in the femininity aspect. He pulled up my pictures and began making the exact changes with an editing tool that we spoke about. He explained everything as he went on. He spoke about how when the hump is removed the tip projection will have to be brought in toward the face ever so slightly so as not to make the nose look elongated. The images he edited show exactly the nose I am looking for and he was on the same page with me about everything. I must reiterate how kind not only he, but everyone in his office was toward me. It is a genuinely good vibe.
I booked the procedure then & there for Nov 24, 2020 and paid in full. As I have been working to lose weight gained in quarantine I have been in the gym 4-5 times per week and asked him when I can be back in the gym. He said two weeks! I was thrilled.
His style is interesting as I won’t be put under general a aesthesia but with propofal (sp?) which is what they give you when you get wisdom teeth removed. He assured me I’ll be fully asleep throughout the procedure. I like that I don’t have to go under general and get a tube down my throat! I can only pray that it comes out like the renderings because it is exactly what I want! I will keep you all posted!
2.5 weeks til surgery!
Last night, Nurse Rebecca sent me a ton of information followed up with a phone call going over all the information. It included pre-op and post-op instructions, things to stay away from, what to expect the day of procedure with a schedule, going over the prescriptions, and much more. I am going to have to take a mail in covid test (paid for by their office) a week prior to surgery.
One thing that really sticks out as wonderful is the take home kit post surgery. They literally give you everything you need. They give you gauze, tape, arnica pills for bruising (many of you on here have to go out an purchase that yourselves), and even gloves you can put on while you ice your nose so your hands don't get cold! its pretty incredible. My mom will be accompanying me the day of surgery and sleeping over. I'll report in at 9:30am for surgery. Nurse Rebecca said the surgery will take about 2 hours. While I am nervous about the pain I am happy I will have pain medication to fall back on just in case. I honestly think the thing I am worried about most is having to sleep sitting up. I am about to order on amazon one of those "husband" pillows I think they're called. I know there will be lots of down time so I just have to make sure that my diet is on point. I will be making a soup and a chili ahead of time and I think that will be perfect. I plan to do a lot of reading, TRYing to minimize screen time but I know lots of movies and TV tbh, and cuddles with my puppy and cat. Right now I am just looking forward to surgery. Having a little trouble sleeping as it gets closer (last night I had a dream my nose fell off during surgery haha) but over all very excited!!!!!

One week away!
I found a recliner that I am buying basically for the purposes of this procedure that I will put in my living room and I will sleep there. The recliner will keep me in a good comfortable position where my head is elevated still. Plus I figure that puts me in front of the TV, closer to the kitchen and bathroom, etc. I suspect the first few days I’ll hardly leave that chair. I do want to get out for walks and do some normal things once I’m feeling I’m able to. I can’t stay cooped up too long.
The purpose of this post is to put up some before pics for myself and for others! Again the procedure will rid me of the dorsal hump in my profile and give a feminine slope to my nose, bring the tip closer to my face (by millimeters) and Thin out the bridge of my nose.
