Deformed Nose and No Communication

I flew international Istanbul to have a rhinoplasty done by dr guncel. The cost of my procedure was roughly 13k. Following my deposit I didn’t hear from anyone for weeks. I messaged a few times on WhatsApp (their main mode of communication) for pre op instructions but they kept saying they’ll send it 2 weeks prior. But ended up ending it 1 week prior which made me nervous. The office was really nice but disorganized. I was scheduled to come at 430pm for my appointment but they took in all other patients before me and only realized after I had told them. My pictures were taken and I had a personal consult with dr guncel. We went over a virtual representation of what my nose would look like. It seemed a bit rush but I decided to move forward as the place seemed very reputable.
Upon removing the cast, my nose appeared to be twisting to one side and my nostrils were deformed, one higher than the other with the septum severely deviated and blocking my air way. The tip is also pointing downwards looking like a beak. I was instructed to “massage” the septum as it was supposedly swelling (push the septum the opposite side it was deviating). Communication has since been very minimal since my return to my country. I was told I would be having a follow up in a month. To which a call was scheduled 3 times but no one called. When there were questions or concerns. They’d be left unanswered or dismissed. I have had a a few doctors look at my nose and they’ve stated that unfortunately I’ve had some really botched work done. And not much can be done other than a revision. I’ve been left deformed by Dr Guncel and neither him or his team is taking any accountability.

It takes minimum one year to see the final result after a rhinoplasty operation. That time is even longer when it is a revision case like yours. Your first operation was done multiple years ago from a different surgeon and as a person from the industry you know how these period goes.
As you know you had pretty asymmetrical nostrils which were partially fixed (as much as nasal structure allows us). We made the wide nasal base smaller. Removed the hump which was a result of your previous rhinoplasty operation and also lifted the tip up. Your severe deviation on the dorsum and tip has been straightened.
Swelling and wound contraction is very important during healing procedure and may cause different asymmetries sometimes, this is the nature of the surgery. In meantime we advise our patients to stay in contact with us so we can explain the situation, we are always here to help them in any case. Our medical consultant has arranged multiple video calls with you over few months and we discussed it there as well and explained you the situation.
Even when these insist to stay after the healing process we are always here to help our patients. With a 15-20 min. procedure those can be solved that does not require long and extensive healing process. You can get back to your routine a lot faster. Every surgeon has a 5% revision rate, doctor follows up the situation and after the healing if he thinks its necessary another minor operation would be performed.
Please stay in contact with our medical team to get necessary information and support.
Best regards

It had been a year of terrible communication with this guy and his staff. They ignored me for weeks till I threatened to sue and go public with his work. Then he answered right away. Still claiming that the results are from swelling. I was denied by dr Resit, dr sulley, and 2 other well known surgeons in LA and Toronto. Thank god a Korean doctor dr man suk suh accepted my case and confirmed that the work was poorly done. Cause my septum to be severely deviated and crooked. And extremely long for my face. After threatening to sue for mal practice as his staff left me unattended while struggling to breathe during recovery and for the final results. He returned me my money. But shorted me on the exchange rate. I’ll give him a thumbs up for actually returning some money but to revise his work with my korea doctor was 17k to which he refused paying for saying it would mean he would have to take full responsibility for what happened. I showed his before and after picture to the other surgeons they were shocked that that was what my supposed nose was suppose to look like compared to what they were seeing in front of them. Aka he edits his work. 0/10 for dr guncel. I wasn’t going to post this as he was trying to pay me off to take down this post but I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did
