Best Decision, Ever!
WORTH IT
Before I begin my review, I would like to take the opportunity to apologize beforehand for such a long and extensive message; I felt this was necessary to truly capture what an amazing and skilled surgeon Dr. Shuaib is.
At a young age I became aesthetically aware of the differences amongst my nose and those of my peers, and I knew that a rhinoplasty was a procedure I NEEDED to receive. Back then, I didn't realize that the medical severity and necessity far outweighed the cosmetic imperfections I was concerned about; I had a collapsed nostril and deviated septum that were hindering my overall health and well-being. I still didn't want to compromise my cosmetic appearance for my medical issues. I mean, we should be able to receive both, right? I visited a surgeon that told me he could only "fix" my cosmetic concern, but I would have to receive surgery from a different surgeon to address the medical concerns. Two different surgeons and two different surgeries for the same nose was not something I wanted to undergo. This is where my quest to find the perfect ENT specialized in cosmetic/plastic surgery began. Prior to finding Dr. Shuaib, I consulted with another ENT whom was also double-certified in what I was looking for. During our consultation, I felt the other ENT Doctor was only interested in the monetary gain instead of focusing on the patient's satisfaction. This ENT also suggested other services that I was not seeking. As if that weren't disappointing enough, after the simulation pictures of what I could possibly look like after surgery, he turns and looks at my husband and asks, "What do you think, sir, is she a keeper with the new nose?" Uh, rude. This didn't sit well, yet I thought I had no choice since I hadn't met an ENT that was double-board certified. Boy, was I wrong. I DID have a choice.
Meeting Dr. Shuaib was fate; I sat in a consultation room not for me, but for my daughter. I was immediately drawn to his mannerism, his thoroughness, and how well he explained EVERYTHING. I decided to get a surgery consultation and left out of there knowing, without a doubt in my mind, that this was the Doctor meant to perform my longly-waited and anticipated surgery. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Shuaib spoke to my husband and myself beforehand. He explained the detailed process once again, and even showed us my pictures on his phone that he had been studying in preparation for my surgery. Wow! Talk about thoroughness in preparation for the surgery he was about to perform. Once again, I knew I was in the hands of the best skilled surgeon for my rhinoplasty.
I am now two months post-operation, and the quality of care and attention has not diminished at all. He is attentive and available for any and all questions, concerns and comments that I may have. Dr. Shuaib has truly been God-sent; not only did he address my cosmetic concerns by giving me a beautifully straight and natural-looking nose, but he also provided me with a far greater quality of life. My nostril is now open and I can breathe! I did not realize the amount of oxygen deprivation I was suffering from. Oh, and now there's no such thing as to capture the "right" aesthetically pleasing angle for my nose; every angle is a good angle!
