Dr. Rival botched my nose

ORIGINAL POST

I had a straight nose and now have a crooked nose due to surgery with Dr. Richard Rival

I contemplated nose surgery for a decade before doing it. I spent a year contemplating doctors and chose who I thought would've given the best results in Canada.

I honestly did not expect to need a revision and be left with a crooked unnatural looking nose. I feel that he is not confident in the result either, as I gave consent to post the photo with blurring my eyes and he never did.

It does make me regret having done it because to know that I now need a revision, I wouldn't have done it in the first place. I had specifically chose him as I wanted only one nose surgery.
Where to start?

I did express my concerns at not being happy with the result, and if I could use filler to fix what he did, and he said no it would need a revision.

He said I would need to pay for a revision. He took half of my tip off on my right side and my nose does a sharp turn to the left on my right side.

Meanwhile on my left side he took too much bone? Or cartilage?
On my left side giving me a curved bridge curving to the left. So it's 100% worse than what I started with and has left me with regrets and self consciousness.

Due to the nerves I assume that's why he said I can't get fillers to try and rebuild the tip he took off.

I'm extremely upset and disappointed. I don't understand why if he took too much tip off on accident during surgery, why he wouldn't fix it in the moment?? Why leave me needing a revision at my expense?

I wanted the most natural look possible and this is what I got.

His suggestion to make my nose straight was to bend it to the side myself. He did give a steroid injection shot to lessen the look of how curved it was. But that didn't fix the problem only helped mentally, as it was truly a structural problem.

I have finally come to terms that I will need a revision and I am beyond terrified. Obviously this means choosing another doctor and going through a more complex surgery to rectify the situation.

I am disappointed that he wouldn't own up to his mistake instead blame it on me (my nose). When clearly you can see my nose anatomically was straight before.

He told me I had a very slight deviated septum (and he was shocked I even wanted surgery because of how my nose looked, which I was definitely flattered) to which I would've never noticed unless he said something, because my nose was straight externally.

I do appreciate the things he did do to try and make my nose better but it missed the mark because to fix it involves major surgery.

As an artistic doctor, though I have to give him his flowers he does do great work. I just wasn't so lucky and wish he would've tried harder to stand behind the work that he portrays.

In hindsight it does make me wonder, the surgeries that don't get posted online or in reviews, how that could've affected my decision making.

Also to add, I'm not sure if this is a normal complication of surgery. But since my surgery (1 year 8 months) I have clear fluid that drops from one nostril, and the inside of my nose never healed.

Strange tissues and blood clots keep coming out of my nose since the surgery.

I really trusted reviews/photos and it was a major factor in me choosing to do my surgery with Dr. Rival.

I never wrote a review about any of my surgeries before because anonymity was a major concern for me.

But I’m willing to risk my anonymity, to share my experience because it may help someone.

I’m considering risking my identity to show exactly what I’m talking about. I may be posting pictures soon.

I am in disbelief knowing I need to go though this all again :( finding a revision doctor.

If anyone has any suggestions please share who to go to for revision. Thank you

Dr. Richard Rival rhinoplasty before and after

I’m having major breathing issues now it feels like my nose is collapsing in. And the leaking issue still has not stopped. The crusting and bleeding never stopped since I got the surgery 2 years and 4 months ago.

When I brought up my concerns Dr. Rival told me just bend my nose to the side and that will fix it. ??? I don’t know if he was trying to be funny or serious… but it seemed like a complete joke to me.

I told him about a cyst forming in my sinus and he claims it is not related to the surgery. But all my head MRIs in my medical history have never had a cyst until this procedure with Dr Rival was done.

He acted as if the leaking is normal which it is not. Huge pieces of skin tissue and mucous keep sloughing off inside my nose with blood clots since the surgery.

They never stopped and he claims this is normal. I was duped. I asked for a button nose and was given a pointy crooked uneven nose that poked nothing like my wish pics. I had more of a button nose before he did the surgery. My bridge has a sharp 90 degree angle to it on my left side. It’s like touching the edge of a table and it’s sore.

From both sides of my face my nose doesn’t even look the same on either side. It like I’m 2 different people now depending on which side of my face you look at
