Awesome Experience!

It's been about five months since my surgery and I am surprised by how easy of a process recovery has been and how pleased I am with the results from my septorhinoplasty! I had always hated my nose and had fractured it twice in my childhood. I had toyed with the idea of surgery most of my life but decided to move forward with it in the past two years. I consulted with Dr. Le back in December of 2020 and he blew away the other doctors I had spoken with thus far. So many doctors spent very little time with me, didn't seem invested in the functional aspect of my surgery, and did not provide details of the surgery itself. Dr. Le asked an exhaustive list of questions and spent three hours with me in order to ensure I was a good fit for the surgery. As I also had functional issues with breathing, the entire surgery was 10k but with insurance was around 6k. The week before surgery, we had a pre-op to discuss minor details and concerns with aftercare. He provided me a sheet with aftercare and supplies needed before hand. Dr. Le told me he did not use packing in his surgeries. The surgery itself was around 7 hours, and Dr. Le told me he found an additional instance of nasal valve collapse that extended the procedure past what he anticipated. When I woke up from surgery, I was shocked how well I was breathing. I was very nauseous from anesthetics and pain killers, but went home and slept it off. My nose did become more congested in the following days, but I think I was only forced to breathe through my mouth one or two nights. Swelling was minimal, all in all I'd say recovery was akin to a bad cold and not particularly painful. I only took the prescribed pain medication for one day after the procedure. Cast came off a week later and even though I was still swollen, I really liked my end result. Dr. Le corrected the bump in my bridge and also corrected my downturned tip. I think the result is very natural and I am very happy with how it has looked with time. Dr. Le was very professional, thorough, and understanding throughout this entire process. I had a terrific experience with him and my nose is improved in function and appearance.

Consult with Dr. Le

I am a 25 year old woman looking to have septorhinoplasty. For a bit of background, I suffered some facial trauma as a child and broke my nose. I spent most of my life assuming I had a dorsal hump of sorts, but this would more accurately be described as a bony fracture from the result of my injury. I have a very deviated septum and nasal valve collapse; whenever I inhale, my left nostril makes a quiet whistling sound. While my nose isn't jarringly disfigured and the bump isn't too noticeable, I have always wanted it corrected. It was very important to me to have someone who would ensure better breathing after my surgery, as well as cosmetic improvement. The changes I am looking for aren't too dramatic - reducing the fracture, scooping the bridge slightly, and rotating the tip upwards. While my breathing isn't too bad, the nasal valve collapse obviously impacts it. My first consult was with a doctor at JHU in Maryland who spent all of 10 minutes with me and gave a poor before and after simulation. Unsatisfied, I did some research and found Dr. Le. I read that he was very thorough, took lengthy consults, and had a reputation for his attention to detail. When I met with him in late December, I felt very hopeful at the end of our consult. I felt my experience with him was very accurate as to what others said online; my consult lasted almost three hours, during which he went through the surgery in great detail, the limitations of what he could do, and asked for a thorough description of what I wanted. I appreciated that his questions and comments were all geared towards what I wanted, not whatever his aesthetic or preferences were. I have read this is not the case with many surgeons who 'impose' their ideas. His questions were a little overwhelming (I had a hard time describing what exactly I did not like about my bridge, tip, etc), but he was very polite, patient, and thorough. He took several photographs of my nose, gave me two different simulations of my nose, and showed me several patients that were not online or through his site of similar noses to mine and their outcomes. After the consult, in early January I received a very detailed report of our consult, the cosmetic and functional goals of the procedure, and a breakdown of estimated costs, as well as our agreed upon simulations. Dr. Le also requires his patients to have a preliminary work up and a visit one week before surgery to go over what was discussed in consult. All in all, I was very pleased with my interaction with Dr. Le thus far and I have surgery scheduled for April 28th of 2021. I have spoken to two other patients of Dr. Le's who had rhinoplasty with him directly and they have both only had positive things to say about him. I feel like it is very daunting for prospective patients when looking for authentic reviews online of plastic surgeons, so I wanted to share my experience, as many others have been kind enough to share theirs. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions!
