I wanted to avoid factory clinics and doctors who would give unnatural/ unsafe results. After 2-3 years researching clinics in Korea, I stumbled soon Cocoline 1 year before my surgery. The doctor’s philosophy of achieving a natural nose within a safe range was what I was looking for. Additionally, after scrolling through all the before and after photos, I could see that the doctor created a type of nose that I wanted.

I consulted with them on Whatsapp, and they sent me photoshopped images of what my results could look like. All the images were to my liking so I decided to sit on it for a while to see if it was the right fit. I was told a slight residual hump may be present due to safety precautions. I ended up paying a 10% deposit for the rhinoplasty and booked the surgery.

Consultation
Selena, the translator was very helpful and friendly. She was by my side the entire time. We conducted the CT scan and filled out some paperwork, then I was taken into the consultation room.

The surgery plan was for a no implant rhinoplasty by using septal cartilage, (and possible ear cartilage if i didn’t have enough septal cartilage), shave the hump to a safe range, refine the bulbous tip, project the tip slightly, and narrow the alars internally. The doctor also pointed out some asymmetry however it would not be resolved with rhinoplasty, which I was fine with.

During the consult, the CT scan showed that I had a deviated septum. It was encouraged to fix this with rhinitis surgery at the same time, as a rhinoplasty without this could make breathing worse. Additionally it would be harder to fix the deviated septum after rhinoplasty. I asked to think it over until surgery day, which they were fine with. Just note, I did not believe I had any functional issues before the scan, so keep this in mind for the consultation. After it was pointed out, I could not stop noticing breathing through one nostril all day, therefore decided on getting rhinitis surgery too.

A lot of the questions I had in mind were already brought up by the consultant, so I did not have any questions to ask at the end.

Overall the consultation went well, the clinic was clean and all the staff were friendly, and Doctor Kim was very comforting, so I decided to follow through with the recommended procedures.

Surgery Day
The consultant took before photos, and we went through all of the consent forms with Selena, and arranged payment. I was taken into the recovery room to change, and then was taken into the OR. This whole process lasted ~1 hour

They administer sleep sedation through an IV, not general anesthesia, however the process was still seamless. Selena was with me the entire time until I fell asleep.

I woke up in the recovery room and it took ~1 hour to be comfortable to leave. I was given pumpkin juice and some other small items, as well as a prescription to pick up from the pharmacy.

My mouth was extremely dry this day, and my nose kept dripping blood. I also noticed some bruising and swelling start to develop ~3 hours post op. I could still taste food, and do normal activities, however I had a diminished sense of smell, (even for a couple weeks after cast removal).

Checkups
On day 3, I had my splint removal. Having the splints in was not uncomfortable, but removing them was the most painful part of the process, and my nose was extremely sensitive for a couple hours after. Doctor Kim also cleaned my nose and I received a deswelling shot this day.

Removal
Cast removal was very easy, and stitches removal did not hurt. Cocoline gave me red light therapy for swelling, as well as scarring and bruising creams. After surgery, Dr Kim said that my hump could not be shaved completely however post cast removal my nose looked pretty straight! It was extremely swollen from the front however, but was told it will look great in 2 weeks.

Cocoline
Overall, I was extremely happy with choosing Cocoline. I had the same consultant and Selena who were really nice, and helped me through the entire process and made the environment feel relaxed. The consultation room was not packed, and each visit was very quick and efficient, (I was in the building for less than 30 minutes for follow ups). I also appreciated that Doctor Kim had a very calm attitude, and did not try to force something that was unnatural or impossible.
