My rhinoplasty and buccal fat removal journey!
$4,400
Hello everyone! My name on here is Rose (not my real name). I've been researching doctors for a long time now on who to do my rhinoplasty and buccal fat removal. After constant messaging and reviewing work I've decided to go with Dr. Umit Taskin in Istanbul, Turkey. I live in NYC and I'm traveling far for two reasons: firstly, their technology is more advanced and they don't have to break my nose and secondly, it is a lot more affordable. A rhinoplasty here costs about 12k. I do have some hesitations about my specific doctor. His work is excellent but the majority of his pictures are of patients on the surgery table and not frontal view from months after the operation. Secondly, I believe he gave me incorrect medical advice. I also want to do arm liposuction at the same time of this procedure and he does not perform this himself, so he told me his friend (another surgeon) would do it. I have no problem with that and I asked for his colleague's name. His colleague seems legitimate but my only concern was I did not see too many pictures on his Instagram page so I asked if it was possible to send me the name of another colleague. I am not sure if this irritated him or was too much work for him so he then told me I would need two separate procedures. First, he would do the rhinoplasty and buccal fat removal for me, I would have to rest one week, and then I could go to whatever surgeon I wanted for the arm liposuction. His concern was he said that liposuction is a big surgery and I would need time to recover. I know recovery from surgery is not fun and that is why I wanted to have these procedures done at the same time so I would just have to go through one recovery. I am not a medical professional but I am an educated woman and I know that it is not safe for the body to endure anesthesia that close within each other especially for cosmetic reasons. Just to reaffirm my theory I asked a second doctor for his opinion (this doctor would have been able to perform all three procedures at the same time) and he told me I was correct, that it is not safe for the body to go through anesthesia closer than three months apart from each other. I truly trust the opinion of the second doctor (Dr. BORA OK) but the only reason I'm not going to him is because my case is not considered ethnic and I would prefer a surgeon who operates mainly on my type of nose. As of now, I am scheduled for my surgery on Friday, February 14th, 2020. His colleague who will be performing the arm liposuction is actually a very nice guy and is not greedy at all and gave me an extremely fair price for this procedure. On the other hand, Dr. UMIT is charging me on the higher end of what rhinoplasty costs in Istanbul. When I took screenshots of his previous patients on this website and showed him that no one really paid more than $3500 he abruptly stopped me and told me his prices have changed and if I wanted to I could see someone cheaper and he could even recommend them. I'm not sure if he's just passionate about his work and dislikes it when someone asks him a question or if he was being a straight up jerk. He told me the price would be €4000 for both the rhinoplasty and the buccal fat removal. He told me that a few months ago and thank goodness I have in writing because when I contacted him to confirm this he told me that it would be €4000 just for the rhinoplasty and an additional €1200 for the buccal fat removal. I quickly sent him a screenshot of him promising that it would be €4000 for both procedures and he said, "oh yeah that's right you got a very special price." It seems to me that he is a gifted surgeon and has an eye for symmetry but it also appears he is greedy about money. I feel like he didn't care if I had two separate surgeries a week apart from each other, as long as he got his money first for his surgery he didn't care about my well-being and what would happen after. Another surgeon I am currently considering is Dr. Alpaslan Yildirim. His assistant told me he only performs rhinoplasty and his colleague will do the buccal fat removal and arm liposuction at the same time. What I like about this doctor is that he has several pictures of his patients front view post operatively. They did not give me a quote yet for the arm liposuction but his prices are roughly the same as Dr. Umit for the first two procedures. Dr. Umit did not require a deposit so I technically could still change surgeons but I feel like I should not jump to conclusions. Dr. Mirza Firat has stunning work but his prices are out of my price range (rhinoplasty $4200, buccal fat removal $1800, arm liposuction $3500). The only difference about his price would be the rhinoplasty but other than that the arm liposuction and buccal fat removal is not much cheaper there than it is here. I believe their office is closed for Christmas but I am still waiting for Dr. Alpaslan to get back to me with a quote on what it would cost to add arm liposuction. Do any of you ladies have advice? Do any of you guys know if these prices are negotiable? I believe they are but I feel like I had a bad experience with Dr. Umit trying to negotiate the price so I stopped. Is anyone else traveling to Istanbul around the same time I am? Any insight you guys give me would be helpful and I look forward to hearing from you lovely ladies. Thank you!

Hey hun, thank you for sharing your experience in contacting the docors.
Have you decided who you are going with?
I will be travelling to Istanbul near the end of Feb for a rhino and buccal fat removal.
I'm going with Dr. al Riza oreroglu, came across his patients cast removal on YouTube and they looked great only thing I wish they written reviews. I have considered Taskin but I have my second guesses. Contacted him months back but the communication was so very vague/ no in-depth responses so I let it go.
Hey! I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner! I've decided to go with Dr. Alpaslan Yildirim. I'm getting rhinoplasty done by him and then his colleague will do my buccal fat removal and upper arm liposuction. My surgery is booked for February 14th and I already bought my ticket. My mother will be accompanying me because she's kind of a chicken and doesn't feel comfortable with me going alone. I decided not to get the package they offer for the hotel and transportation because I found a well-rated hotel nearby for only $30 a night and from what I've read about Istanbul the taxi service is really cheap so I think I'll end up spending a lot less than the $700 package. I've never heard of your doctor so I'm going to look him up now. I'm confident both of us will be pleased with our results. I've made friends with some ladies on IG who used the same surgeon as me. A lot of them are still less than a year out so their final results aren't official but they are happy so far. I've learned that perfection is unattainable and as long as my nose is much better than the one I'm starting with I'll be happy. It's not big in size--just crooked and with a bulbous tip. I made friends with this young woman who also had a crooked nose pre-op. She was super happy for the first two months but started to feel her nose was shifting again to one side by the third month. I still think according to her pictures her surgery was a huge improvement and I guess that's what matters. I've told myself that I naturally have a very asymmetrical face so there is also a possibility that my nose may start to shift slightly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though! I ordered some supplies for the surgery from Amazon. I got arnica pills that I will start to take a week before my procedure to reduce the swelling and bruising. My sister is a nurse here so I'm going to make her get me strong pain meds in case I feel like the ones that will be given to me won't be enough. I also got a portable mini humidifier since I will be breathing with my mouth and it'll get dry. I'm traveling from the US so I bought outlet adapters but apparently I got the wrong ones and my mom said I have to get a power converter as well. Did your doctor give you a quote? I'm paying 3000 euros for the rhinoplasty, 1000 for the buccal fat removal, and 2000 for the arm liposuction.
You made a great decision to get a 2nd opinion, the fact Yildirim only performs rhinoplasty is a big plus. Hard to find that honestly!
Having someone there is important, in case anything was to happen, extra help and emotional support. I will be going alone for all operations which I'm okay with, I’m both nervous and excited. But The places offer nurses and complimentary stay that puts me at ease.
I’m doing separate operations first Boob job (11.8k usd) in Korea in a week from now, then two weeks later ethnic Rhinoplasty & buccal fat removal in turkey( 4.2k usd/1.7k usd)
All my déposits, flights and accommodations are booked but I’m considering doing all operations in Turkey so it’s one entire experience, doc quoted me 2.9k usd for boobs which I was a bit surprised, and suspect at first, I thought to be more. What do you think?
Korea is great & advanced techniques, but I also keep thinking breast is very common and shouldn’t go wrong unless body rejects? Both docs have same amount of experience with boobs. Different techniques I would highly assume.
You spot on about the results, I’m working on making it key that results is about improvement from my current nose, which I don’t doubt will be transformed beautifully. Our outcome will be wonderful and I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts, Sending you so much positive energy!
Can I ask why you did not go with dr Taskin?
Have you had surgery? How did it go?
Hi, how did the surgery go?
Hi honey! The surgery went well. You have to be very patient, as with any surgery. I am currently two years out and I couldn't be happier. I would love to send you photos if you would like to see. DM me on Instagram on "meowingalpaca"
