Bad Outcome - My Breathing Has Gotten Worse Each Month

UPDATED FROM Bluebell94

Further photos

Further images of my current situation. ENT letters to follow. As you can see the dorsum lacks definition and has been overly reduced to make the nose appear larger in the frontal view. The clinic has told me it is unreasonable to assume this isn't a good result so I will allow the public to decide. Happy to answer any questions if you message me.

Bad Outcome After Surgery with Selcuk Inanli

I had a primary rhinoplasty with Professor Selcuk Inanli just under 9 months ago and unfortunately, I have had an unsuccessful outcome. I have decided to write this review to help others understand the risks of rhinoplasty and why it is important to choose your surgeon wisely.

My main concerns were to remove the dorsal hump and have a straighter profile. We discussed removing the dorsal hump but preserving my nose size to keep my identity. My breathing was perfect prior to surgery except for nighttime when I often mouth breathe.

Unfortunately, my dorsum was over-resected after an aggressive rasp (6mm), I also underwent an unnecessary turbinate reduction and I am left with breathing difficulties and a shapeless flat and wide nose as you can see from the results attached.

Rhinoplasty is a complicated operation and sometimes things can go wrong, it is how the surgeon deals with those issues. At my 4-month follow-up, the surgeon dismissed all my concerns and said this was a perfect result. I showed him the ENT letters from the UK that support my concerns but he dismissed all claims saying they are not competent.

Furthermore, the assistant has consistently dismissed my concerns and the clinic has made no intentions of helping me by offering a revision or advice on which Doctor to see to help fix my breathing problems. I have not requested a refund once but was accused of seeking one when I messaged one evening asking if the Doctor thinks he can repair my airway.

In addition to a flat and wide nose, I have a sharp piece of cartilage in my airway that causes me to pain all the time. I was told by the surgeon that this is a consequence of rhinoplasty, but have been told by revision surgeons in the UK that this is due to a spreader graft cut too long.

My primary rhinoplasty was 7 hours long and ear cartilage was used. I have been told that my nose has virtually no cartilage left and I will require rib grafting to repair my nose and spreader grafts to open my airway.

On multiple occasions, I have asked to speak with the Doctor to discuss my concerns but they have responded personally as being offended that I am not happy with my result. You will notice, that most of the positive requests are from less than a month post-op, it is because they pressure patients to write reviews.

The assistant on many occasions has told me my claims are ‘unscientific’ and I have been told that I am the only patient who has had a negative outcome and that the other real self-negative reviews about this surgeon are false as those patients are unwell, which I consider inappropriate disclosure to provide me with confidential information about other patients. I am unsure if I can show my correspondences with the clinic but I will contact the real self moderators to discuss what I am allowed to share in the attachments.

The clinic made no intentions to help me post-operatively and since my 4-month follow-up, the surgeon has not contacted me once. For me, this concludes that the clinic is not interested in helping patients with a negative results.

My advice is to avoid this clinic as there are many doctors in Turkey who have a more structured system and processes in place for bad outcomes for surgery. The new revision doctor I am currently speaking with has been very transparent with his outcomes and has told me even he has unsuccessful primary rhinoplasties that require adjustments. Furthermore, you will notice Selcuk Inanlis clinic will push you to book surgery from the first encounter and send photoshopped morphs of your nose via WhatsApp, this is unrealistic as no morphs should be created until a full nasal examination is conducted.

Functionally, my breathing has gotten worse each month, 30% on my left and 60% on my right, sense of smell are also poor.

I will leave my ENT letters with my photographs attached to allow you, the public to judge if the outcome/review I have provided is fair.

This is a poor result with extremely poor aftercare. Thank you for sharing, I will not consider this surgeon.
Thank you for your review! I am sure, all the other reviews about this doctor are not false. Such surgeons and clinics should be exposed as they make people ugly and disfunctional.
I was made disfunctional by SHEKRUZ Sheida in Istanbul, Medient Hospital.
Wow so unfortunate. I was really considering this doctor but now I won’t
Yeah, I've caused three patients to cancel their interest after having them review my results. They all agree that is a poor outcome that deserves compensation.
Thank you for your detailed review and objective evidence with pictures. This doctor seems more interested in posting flashy instagram reels with music than mastering the intricate skills of rhinoplasty and caring for patients properly. this is disgraceful. I am personally very connected in the rhinoplasty community and will be sure to distribute this review far and wide for everyone to see. Thanks again for sharing and I wish you the best with your revision
Thanks, he has shown a lack of compassion or professionalism. His assistant slates other doctors and refuses to help me or organize a consultation to discuss how to fix my issue. It seems they are just interested in getting as many customers as possible via instagram.
I am so sorry this happened to you. Any experienced surgeon should know to not excessively remove so much septal cartilage from a bump on the nose. He was aggressive with de-projection as well and is unacceptable. He definitely does not have the skin to be touching anyone’s face. I hope you get your money back for these results. You deserve some compensation especially since you can’t breathe. The same thing happened to me where my surgeon completely removed my dorsal hump and more cartilage on top of that and de-projected.
The psychological aspect of a completely opposite nose is something surgeons don’t warn you about. It’s so awful.
