Since Elementary school I have dreamed of changing my nose. I’ve always felt that it didn’t fit my face properly. After doing a lot of research I ended up booking my surgery with Dr. Funk the day of my consultation. He had great credentials and did and excellent job on a friend of mine which is why I felt comfortable trusting him with my procedure. It seemed that noses were his specialty.
We decided to decrease the projection of my nose, take in my nostrils a tiny bit, and define the tip and rotate it upwards. He was going to remove my hump and I wanted a very slightly curved profile. My nose also needed to be straightened and to have a turbinate reduction.
The day of surgery could not have gone smoother. One minute I didn’t realize I was falling asleep and the next I woke up in recovery. I was barely swollen when I first arrived home. The swelling and bruising kicked in later that night. I did need my prescribed pain meds to keep me comfortable but it wouldn’t have been unbearable without them.
I did end up with a lot of bruising and swelling. I knew that I bruise easily so it was to be expected. I think the best mental preparation for recovery is having reasonable expectations. My recovery didn’t seem too bad because I knew what I was getting myself into after reading reviews and doing research. Though not everyone is the same so parts of it weren’t even as bad as I thought. I didn’t deal with my throat being as sore as I read as a frequent complaint.
The main thing that bothered me was on day 5 I believe, I felt like I had a pill stuck in my throat all day. I did some research and it seemed that perhaps my esophagus was just really irritated from taking so many medications and acid reflux. When I saw Doctor Funk and explained the feeling of something being stuck and chest tightness he suggested that I try taking Prilosec. It is my 3rd day taking Prilosec and the box says it could take 4 days to start feeling the full effects. I’m mostly just uncomfortable during and after drinking/eating now. Hopefully it goes away or I may have to see my regular doctor soon.
I’m at 3 days post cast removal and I am still very swollen/wide from front view but my profile is looking much cuter already! My tip is a big circle. Lol.. My nostrils look so tiny from underneath but I’m guessing they will open a bit more when my swelling reduces. I’m so excited to see the changes that will happen because I know I still have a long way to go on this journey!

I know this view VERY well. I am (hopefully) just coming out of this stage where it is super swollen from the front and a ball on the tip. :-/

looking good! hang in there. I noticed my swelling goes up when I drink alcohol and don’t sleep upright.

Thanks for the advice DS2018! Do you think drinking coffee affects swelling as well? And thank you guys for the compliments!

I don’t really drink coffee anymore so I’m not sure? I am going to see funk next week though my right nostril is a little difficult to get air through I keep blowing but nothing changes
