WORTH IT
I had my facelift on July 17th. Do not take it for granted that you will be ready to go to work in two weeks. Everyone recovers differently. I had a full facelift. I had my own fat injected into my laugh lines and under my eyes as a filler. I had the brow lift, neck lift and did my eyes. Some people like to add volume to their cheeks, I had fat removed, because when I smiled, I had fat cheeks. This was something the doctor recommended and I thought why not, for as we age, our faces start to droop again, I do not want to have fat cheeks dragging the floor at age 80 (lol). Today is day 25 after surgery and my cheeks feel completely frozen. I did go back to work on Monday, 24 days after surgery. I left work and went home crying. I felt uncomfortable. There are bumps and dents on my cheeks that look worse during poor lighting and it looks bad. I am not trying to discourage anyone from having surgery, just know and be ready if things di not go as planned. I thought it would take two weeks and it's now been three weeks and a day and I have missed five days from work. I have numbness, but no pain. Sunday, I accidentally hit the bottom of my right eye where I had my own fat injected and now I have a bump plus a bruise and it looks like I have been abused. With makeup, I look good in certain lighting. If you decide to do a full facelift, know the risks. As far as scars, I show none, the incisions were done on my scalp, nothing on on the edge of my hairline. My doctor has many years experience and does a great job, the only concern I have is, will my cheeks look ok? Will I be happy with something new? I need to be patient and wait, but like others who have undergone a facelift, it creates anxiety and you worry if you will look good enough to go out in public, especially like me, I had to miss five days of work last week, i had the last stitches removed last Friday and I am still not ready emotionally, I do not have the luxury to miss any more days.
I went my appointment yesterday at exactly 3 weeks time and my doctor showed me how to do massages to get rid of the bumps on my cheeks. Just know that bumps and can be fixed easily, find someone who does non-surgical facelifts of the lunchtime facelift and go for a session and it will help sculpt your face. Do not be afraid you will be like that forever, it is only an inconvenience for a short while. I think what causes the anxiety in us is time dragging and making us impatient. We need to be patient. I will come back to give more updates.

You have beautiful results! Your face is very youthful now. You now have a heart shaped or triangular shaped face which is always equated to youthfulness. BTW, I don't see any lumps/bumps in your last photo, so your massaging technique must have worked. Enjoy your lovely face, and go to work feeling beautiful and confident!

Thank you. When you see me at certain angles you can see the uneven areas and the bumps and on one cheek what appears like a dent in the cheek. Yes, the massage is working, every day now my cheeks seem to look little better. I will post update pics come Monday, at exactly one month from surgery

Thank you for sharing this. It is nice to have reviews that are positive-but-mixed, if you see what I mean. It can't be all easy. I think you look great and hope you will get happier and happier with your face. And keep us posted!

My pleasure to share, especially, because I have had two facelifts with the same doctor. He is that good. No surgery is ever way. In fact, I am back at work since this last Monday and I felt super uncomfortable that day and ugly, because of the uneven skin, the tight frozen-like traumatized areas on both cheeks that under fluorescent light look really marked. Yesterday, I received the make-up I was waiting for. I was put it on immediately and saw a big improvement. Today, I felt better.

Thank you for sharing an honest review. I think you look marvelous at only 3 weeks. So many people have written about it taking several months to feel normal again, so I'm sure you will too. Your surgeon did a wonderful job!

Thank you, Sue182. I did not bruise a lot, like a lot of other persons, so that helps. I believe that I had the right doctor for the job. I have read many horrid stories and I thank God that there were no complications.

I am 6 weeks post now, and I am just seeing the last of the bruising go away. Still a bit of yellow on my left cheek near the hairline. My doctor was amazing also, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Yes, still a bit lumpy, with a dent on one cheek, but only when I smile. I'm waiting for a few more weeks, maybe another month. But your transformation is truly amazing!!!!

5 Weeks After Surgry

At exactly the beginning of my 4th week, I could not believe it. I got 2 seriously huge n-gown zits and 3 smaller ones on my right side of my face. The surgeon drained the one in my neck and sent a sample to get analyzed. I will see him again this week for follow-up. The before photos in the update are from a face sculpting therapy right before deciding to do the surgery.

35 Days Post-op

Still a little swollen on right cheek from the acne that suddenly attacked me. Dr. Lopez Castillo has been very attentive making sure to stop the in-grown zits. Thank God for make-up! I find that Smartcover covers really well. I recommend it highly. The "Before" pictures are pictures I took after doing a couple of micro-current sessions on myself. The "After" pics I took today - 35 days post-op. My cheeks will come around when I least expect it. There is numbness and no pain. My doctor did a great job hiding the inscisions. I am also using a scar recovery gel. It will help the scars become less noticeable. They say we need to do this early.

Wow! The shape of your face is so youthful! You look great! How are the numbness and incision lines coming along? Thank you for sharing!

Thank you The incisions are hardly noticeable. Yes, my surgeon recommended that I remove my fat cheeks. I said ok and went long with it. I wanted to lose a few pounds and when I did, my face drooped. This happened in one month. My cheeks are still numb. I also feel where they are till loosening up ando have some bruising. Makeup helps a lot. Lol
September 28, 2017
Well you look amazing! Your Dr Castillo gives lovely, natural looking results! Do you have bruising in front of your ears?
User Avatar

Thank you. I think so too. No bruising in front of my ears. Scars almost completely gone. Scars are very well hidden. I like that. This is my second facelift with him. I had reconstructive surgery at age 40 due to lingual nerve damage and it lasted a good 20 Years. The last 7 Years I had been using a radio waves machine to activate the collagen under my skin and I noticed that the scars starting on my 21st year started to show under my ear lobe on my right side. I think he used the scars from the first surgery as a guide and tucked all scars away and now none show. It’s been 72 days since my facelift and I am still healing. I feel like when something is loosening up in different areas of my cheeks. The first time around, I recall, the numbing took over a year and the top of my head lasted over 5 Years. This time around, the top of my head is healing faster. I have a lot less discomfort. Before, it felt like a tight clamp on top of my head. I did not feel that this time. Both surgeries have been very different. Last time I did not have fat removed from my cheeks to slim down my face, this time I did.

Wow, your surgery was more complex than in most reviews here! Your surgeon is obviously very skilled! Congrats!

Sorry, I meant to say that I had a full face lift. It is not my first. This is my second facelift in my lifetime. The first one at age 40. I had lingual nerve damage and it caused me some issues, one side of my face drooped so i had reconstructive surgery. Now, at 61, it was more to remove access skin so that as I age, I do not droop again. In my lifetime, I have done my eyes three times. Thank you.

There is no way you are 61! Wow, you look at least 20 years younger! Just wow!

It is normal to be nervous, it is your face that you will be entrusting to persons you have researched well, but maybe your first ever surgery. I recall that very well. Just pray that all go well and trust all will turn out great. You need to know, patience is important. Take lots of before pictures. Good luck my friend. Keep us all posted. I would love to hear from you. :)
