Revision Rhinoplasty - Dr. Paul Yazbeck - 3 Weeks Post-op

I had my first rhinoplasty on Dec 2015 with another doctor. It left me with bulbous tip, flared nostrils, pinched nostrils, inverted V and open roof deformity, wide bridge/nasal bones, and upturned tip. I was really unhappy with the result and lost my trust in doctors.

It took me 6 years of vigorous researching and mental preparation before I booked my revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Paul Yazbeck on Jan 17, 2022.

I flew from canada to lebanon two days before my surgery (16-hour flight in the middle of a pandemic), and used 2 weeks of my vacation days.

I picked Dr. Yazbeck because he has all the credentials/things to look for (only does rhinoplasties, tons of experience, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon + ENT), I liked the before and after pics he showed me, and I liked his work on Instagram. You can’t find a single bad thing on him on the entire net (only really really good things). He seemed to be the top of the top, and the price tag, I said to myself, reflected/justified that. I never in my life thought I’d spend 15000$ on my nose. It’s a ton of money. But I told myself this would be the last time, so it’d be worth it.

I had my surgery which was followed by 3 days of non-stop nausea from general anesthesia. I vomited tons of blood and barely slept for several days. Most people have an ok post-op experience. Mine was very very tough on my body and mind. But I got through telling myself it’s be worth it and would be the very last time.

Dr Yazbeck sent me the operating table photos after my surgery. My nose looked super small and petite and initially I was concerned about whether it’s be too small for my face, but overall I liked it. He seemed to have addressed many of the things that bothered me.

We removed the cast 1 week after surgery and he taped my nose. I kept the nose on for a week and did the nasal exercice he asked me to start doing.

A week later I took off the tape. I won’t lie, I was absolutely in love with my new nose. I was so happy and emotional the first few days. It’s the dream nose, I thought to myself.

I’m now at almost 3 weeks post op. Unfortunately, I’m noticing early inverted V again. I wrote the doctor and he confirmed that it’s there. He’s asked me to do the nasal exercices more forcefully and frequently (not sure if, scientifically, that can reverse/prevent inverted v and open roof deformity but I’ll go along with it).

I’m very heartbroken and spent a lot of time crying. IMO, my nose looks great today from the front, but based on my experience, with an inverted v, when swelling goes down, it becomes A LOT more evident. I’ll only see the effects (lines and shadows all across my nose) in a few months. For these reasons, I’ll give a “not sure” if it’s worth it for now. It’s early to judge. I’m frightened of what my nose is going to look like in a few months. I’m going to try and be patient and write another update in a month or two.

I also seem to have left nasal collapse because I can’t breathe from my left nostril and you can see an indent (see photo). I have no congestion but there’s literally no air that comes out (and I really don’t think it’s because of swelling). I can only breathe from the right nostril.

I can’t imagine having waited so long, having paid so much a second time to pay, having done so much research, having flown to another country, having taken so much time off work, only to end up with a nose I’m again not happy with. I worry about how this is going to affect my confidence. I’m really sad and in shock. There’s probably going to be some mourning. I’ll have to wait and reevaluate in months/a year how bad it is and whether I have the courage to go through with another rhino. We all know the more rhinos you get the more complicated, expensive and unnatural it gets.

True, I had the same experience with him ! Not worth the money. My nose was super small for my face after the revision. He makes a standard nose on everyone regardless of how it will look. Big mistake

I’m sorry you weren’t happy with your result :( I know how much it can impact you when you’re unhappy with your nose…

3 months post-op - Much happier - Dr Paul Yazbeck

Thriving4005
It’s been three months since my operation. I was definately in panic mode the first month after my revision because of how terrible first rhinoplasty experience was (with a different surgeon). I was so anxious. Now that things have stabilized and that swelling has gone down, overall, I’m really happy with my results.

From the front, to me, my nose is perfect! I didn’t even know my nose could look like this. I also love how it looks from the diagonal angle. It’s given me a lot more confidence. I’m really grateful. My nose has bothered me for such a long time, and I don’t get discouraged by my nose every time I look at the mirror anymore.

From the profile there’s still a little bump in the supratip but the doctor said it’s just swelling which is possible since I’m only 3 months post op so I’m going to trust the process and give it time. Hopefully it will go time and I’ll have a more soft profile.

Despite the bump/swelling from the profile, I’d already say the revision rhinoplasty was a success and was worth it. The doctor told me during pre op consultation that for revision rhinoplasty he can get me an 80% improvement, and I would say he exceeded that.

Ill do another update in a few months

4 months post op - just keeps looking better

Thriving4005
It’s 4 months post op! Supratip swelling is going down, just like her told me! I’m so so happy with my results so far I hope nothing changes.

Looking back, if I could give myself advice after the surgery I would tell myself to CHILL THE F OUT and wait until atleast 3 or 4 months before judging! My nose keeps changing and looking prettier. I’m so happy I went ahead with the surgery.
