Didn't address functional issues, created more problems and decided to make me look like a different person.
I'm officially one year post op revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Rizk. I waited ten years before I decided to go through with a revision. When I came to him I asked that my nose be more symmetrical, my breathing improved and I wanted to still look like myself. I chose Dr. Rizk because of what I thought was his conservative approach and he was the only surgeon who asked for a CT scan. I ignored what I thought were red flags. For example, calling his office several times after my initial visit for the quote, then being quoted $7k more when they finally gave me one at the next visit.
I thought we had a surgical plan, but the day of surgery, Dr. Rizk changed the plan. He told me he would be raising the bridge of my nose, I said I didn't want it. He told me that I had to do it to have the surgery, I already paid, and I couldn't transfer the money to another day to think about it. He was basically telling me, you can leave, but you're not getting your money back - this threw informed consent out the window. Had I known of his actual plan, I would have never chose him, and I’m sure he knows that because I mentioned several times that I only wanted to change the problems, and I was fine with the way I looked aesthetically.
After the surgery, I could see with the cast on, my right nostril kept collapsing when I took a deep breath. When the cast came off, I literally cried. I looked like a different person, and not in a good way. I've been told for the past year by family, friends, colleagues that I'm botched, or they ask if I have long Covid… I’ve been avoiding seeing my book club, trivia club, because I can’t even get a haircut without being told I’m botched.
Sometimes I see myself in a new mirror, and I literally shudder. Not only did Dr. Rizk decide to make me look like a completely different person, but my breathing is worse and my nose is even more asymmetrical. When I touch either side of my nose, I can feel no support on the right side. He didn't keep anything about my original nose, which I really did love aside from the growing asymmetry, and I almost feel like he intentionally made me look terrible for asking to reschedule the day of surgery, after he changed the plan.
At my 8 week visit, I told him I’m very concerned because my nose sounds like it's snorting from my left nostril, my right nostril collapses and it looks like my nose bows. He started yelling at me and said he didn't make my nose bow, he aggressively squeezed my nose between his knuckles and left. I was scared and knew then, I had to just wait a year before I could get a revision, but tried to maintain a good relationship with Dr. Rizk.
At my last appointment, 11 months post op, I told him, again, I'm concerned I might need a revision because my nose sounds like it's whistling all the time, it sounds like I'm snorting when I take a deep breath, and my right side completely collapses when I exercise. It’s so bad, I can’t run more than a couple of minutes before I start coughing and gasping. He told me to breathe out of my mouth, and one of his nostrils collapses...
I am at a complete loss and am embarrassed that I paid someone to make me look like this - I wish I just left the day of surgery and fought him in small claims court. I see several reviews about him changing the plan the day of surgery - believe them, and don’t go to him. I am sharing pictures, because they truly show his work and I hope it prevents someone else from going to him.
