Revision rhinoplasty and botched brow lift - my complaints were not taken seriously
?I‘ve had Revision Rhinoplasty and my assigned Surgeon was Dr. Açar from Mayclinik
I didn‘t get to see the doctor before the very day of surgery. The doctor didn‘t talk to me about the risks, alternatives or even the procedure itself. My consent was taken by a nurse, who didn‘t speak my native language and skipped through the documents, not informing me about any of the details.
The interpreter, who was supposed to translate for me, allegedly quit weeks before my arrival.Yet I wasn‘t notified or provided with a substitute. Despite my concern, i was assured that my poor English would suffice to communicate and i should not worry.
I first met Dr. Açar only just before the surgery. The conversation went poorly and the doctor‘s English was even worse than my own.
The hospital staff did not speak English either and treatment was very harsh. They never changed the bed pan and gave me bruises for weeks, when they messed up my infusion.I was discharged from hospital after a day by the doctor, who deemed the surgery successful. My assigned nurse accompanied me to the hotel.
Few days later, unexpected bleeding and horrible gastric pain occurred, most likely because of the doctor‘s negligence and the nurse’s ill-advice.
On my check-up, the bleeding had to be stopped in an incredibly uncomfortable way.It wasn’t before then, that the doctor asked, whether i had any chronic diseases.
Before i could return to my country, my nose was loosely covered with tape and i was given a hand-written note with instructions to follow.
Back at home, i was supposed to remove the tape after a week.
I immediately noticed that undiscussed changes were made and kept from me. I scheduled a video appointment. My complaints were not taken seriously. No matter the question, I was told to wait for the swelling to subside. I tried explaining, that it‘s anatomically impossible for swelling to be the cause of all the numerous problems. My questions about the procedure were not answered. Upon further request of information about the procedure, I got a short and misinforming medical report. During the next video call, further false statements were made, which i objected to.I was then told, that the problems would be fixed in another revision surgery, but not any sooner than a year post surgery.
Now i have no choice but to suffer from the consequences of the botched surgery until another revision can be performed with even higher risks than before.
Botched brow lift
I‘ve had brow lift by Dr. Açar, who was assigned to me by Mayclinik. I didn‘t get to see the doctor before the very day of surgery. The doctor didn‘t talk to me about the risks, alternatives or even the procedure itself. Instead, taking my consent was delegated to a nurse, who didn‘t speak my native language and didn‘t bother explaining the details.
The interpreter, who was supposed to translate for me, allegedly quit weeks before my arrival. Yet I wasn‘t notified or provided with a substitute. Despite my concern, i was assured that my English skills would suffice to communicate with the doctor, who allegedly speaks English very well. That wasn‘t the case at all, however. I went into surgery, trusting that he was as good a surgeon, as was promised to me.
I spent one night at the hospital, treated really harshly by it‘s staff. The next morning i was discharged by the doctor, who deemed the operation successful. It wasn‘t until a week later, that it was revealed to me, that the doctor had performed a different procedure than agreed on. The wounds still covered by tape, i returned to my own country. I was promised that the scars from the operation would be unnoticeable but after the tape had been removed, i was shocked by the terrible job, the doctor had done.
My complaints were not taken seriously and my questions were not answered. Instead, i was told more lies to appease me. Not only was i denied the services and professional treatment, i was promised but now i‘m in the urgent need of revision surgery. My eyebrows are now not symmetric and noticeable scars stretch from my forehead all over the temples.
