Revision Asian Rhinoplasty with Rib Graft EVERYTHING I WANTED
WORTH IT
I am not someone who likes to write reviews. But for this experience I have to write something thorough to help more people of east/south asian backgrounds choose their surgeons.
OVERALL: Beyond PLEASED by the natural result. I can tell Dr. Asaria is very good at refining details of the nose. Bridge augmentation was minimal using his diced cartilage glue graft technique but I have good bridge projection to begin with and I wanted only minimal bridge enhancement, so he achieved exactly just what I wanted. He supported and refined my tip so well and it looks so cute but not too crazy at all! He gave me a well defined, balanced, cute asian nose. For those who want a BIG augmentation and projection and BIG changes of asian nose to caucasian styles, I am not sure if he is the best fit. Not the same aesthetic.
Some other points:
1. The wait was long to get consultations and surgery but it was well worth it. I was impressed by the staff. They are well coordinated, punctual, listens to our concerns, very polite, professional, and helpful. The best I've seen so far. It a very well-run office. They provided the essential supplies for surgery, which makes preparation easy.
2. Dr. Asaria has amazing bedside manners. He truly listens and explains things well. I can tell he also try to learn and know each of his patient. Also he has that aesthetic eyes for what is beautiful on different faces. I love that he doesn't give the same noses to different people. I was very afraid he will give me a "caucasian nose", but he gave me a beautiful asian nose. I still look like me, but a more balanced and cute version. He is truly gifted, and I think it is one of the most important predictor of the final outcome.
3. Mine is a revision case, which entails some degree of unpredictability. He did encountered difficulty during surgery but he had the skills and judgements to tackle all those challenges and still gave me a perfect outcome. I was truly impressed and grateful. Unfortunately, he won't do revision anymore in the future.
4. Recovery was easy. SURPRISINGLY. I had my first rhino in 2015. The painful experience from 1st rhino still haunts me, my 1st rhino by another surgeon was like 10/10 unbearable pain. That time, the first month of recovery, I had trouble sleeping at night because of the pain. ON THE OTHER HAND, This revision rhino with rib graft by Dr. Asaria, it was at most 1/10 pain. I didn't take any of the prescribed pain med. I took regular tylenol in the morning for 4 days, still didn't think I needed them. The 2nd and 3 rd day I had more swelling pain and my rib was more sensitive, but I could still sleep like a baby. When I woke up in the morning, I always forgot that I had surgery until I accidently put my hand on my face. On PostOpDay 5 I even took an 2 hour exam. For those who work from home, I'd say a weekend off-work is enough. I resumed my study on POD 3.
5. The anesthesiology did a great job. I woke up with NO SHIVERING, NO NAUSEA, NO PAIN. I also didn't feel groggy for long. I was awake and alert walking around about 2 hours later. The only residual anesthesia effects I was experiencing after 2 hours, was my peepee. Voiding is a bit harder because my bladder and those spincther muscles are probably not fully "awake yet". All resolved by the next day though.
