A year of skin care
ORIGINAL POST
A Yr of Skin Care
WORTH IT
Ive always had sensitive and so so skin. But I still looked young. After chemo and radiation I lost weight and my skin was terrible. Coarse, blotchy ,dull and saggy where I lost fat.
I spent the yr using TO ( The ordinary) and microneedling ,melasma and scars. My skin really wasnt improving as much as Id like. I tried retin a at age 40 and it never seemed to work. No peeling using daily and no visible change that yr. This time I opted to try the strongest 1.0 gel. beginning in June 2018 within 3 days my skin began peeling . I cut back to just 2 days a week. Im seeing some smoothing and lightening of pigment now in nov but, it seems slow. Im 47 and I have a few wrinkles on my forehead. Those seem lighter. So , its been 6 months and I think I can expect some other mild changes next yr as I continue with hydration and SPf daily.

Do you only use it 2X a week? I use the .05 almost daily. I don's see any effect, but use just in case. I've tried 1 percent but always look shiny and kind of waxy. Perhaps the trick is to only use it 2X per week.

If I use it more often I get heavy peeling. Im 9 months in now and my skin is still improving but, subtle. I think hydration was a big factor for my skin as well and that I use cosrx good morning PH cleanser which feels very clean but not stripping for me. Im using micro needle stamping and vit c as well.

I used 1.0 for 3 years and no change and peeled on and off the entire time. I tried every way recommended but I ended up with the same original issues. I dropped down to .05 and it was worse which I totally don't understand. I then dropped to 3x/week and then 2 and now I gave up. I appears to work wonders on most but some reason, my skin will not adjust to it. I do have sjogrens which is an autoimmune disease that causes dryness and no amount of hydration was able to stop the peeling. I keep wanting to re-try it. I am so happy it's working for you.

Im so sorry its not working for you. I know I was very frustrated originally when I tried it at lower strengths, but my skin is very tough and I think had thorny tough skin build up that had to be sloughed. I use the retin a and other topicals along with needling not alone. My main issues have been texture and pigment but, my skin is very oily. I think it could be too much for dry skin. I know some will use it on top of a cream to soften its effect but, with no change I dont know. I will say take good photos in the same light each time if possible. I might have missed these changes if I didnt see it myself clearly.

Thank you. I'll try a tiny amount and lots of moisturizer with the same light. Maybe, if anything, I am preventing more wrinkles. I can see your changes and they look beautiful.

progress with retin and and microneedling
The changes seem subtle to me but, I hope my skin continues to even out and pigment issues fade in 2019. Id like better texture and TCA peels dont seem to be improving that much. Ive been also using salicylic acid %50 and I like that for keeping my nose clear of congestion.

Prescription Retin A and good moisturizer and no sun does work over the long hall. Your skin looks like it's improving, and generally quite beautiful at 47!

I have been using prescription retinal-A 0.05% for 3yrs and twice weekly. My skin definitely are smoother and brighter. In terms of the pigmentation and age spot. It just makes it more visible. I have used all kinds of bleach cream and pigmentations correcting serum or cream. I am going to be 55yrs old in about few months! I also have try couples therapy of microneedling . Nothing seems to work!! If you have any suggestions. Going to be 55 soon. I just want to feel WOW one last time.

I agree with your result. I am 54yrs going to be 55 very soon. Prescription retinal - A does do wonders.
The only problem is that your skin gets writer and smoother, but at the same time, I have Asian skin little bit darker than olive skin. My skin gets lighter and smoother, but only problem is my pigmentations spots also got more noticeable!!???

I had fraxel later on my facial dark spots and also on my hands. The dark spots lightened significantly but within a few months, they came back. I use SPF lotion on my face and hands but the dark spots still returned.

its really difficult to avoid all UV even with SPF. But you should wear it even indoors and apply more than once a day. sadly thats the only way we can ward off freckling and pigment. All freckling is UV damage.

before and after close up
One more since the photos are so small to show the changes in texture. The before on the left you can see looks duller and crinkled under the eye . I dont think pores are any smaller but, look more refined.
Thanks for starting your review! I'm looking forward to hearing how your treatment goes :)
