One year out of the procedure and it still looks horrible

NO NO NO. Do Not Make the Same Mistake I Did.

I went to a local provider to get a consult for a mini (lower) facelift because I was seeing the most aging in my jowls and neck. I was recommended to get Renuvion (J-Plasma) for my neck and jaw. I had the procedure and for the first day in my compression garment my neck looked swollen of course but smooth and soft. Within 5 days I had two large seroma’s on my neck that required draining. I had the seroma’s drained no less than 8-10 times. My neck was completely filled with scar tissue and was so lumpy and bumpy and discolored. It looked one hundred million times worse than before I had the procedure. The story goes on…one year out of the procedure and it still looks horrible. I have paid out of pocket for 6 weeks (twice a week) of ultrasounds not break up the scar tissue. I’m still trying to fix it, I’m not sure if there is hope to go back to the way it looked before the Renuvion. DO NOT DO IT. DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID.

Just had proceedure three weeks ago with swelling on both sides . One just drained. Can you tell me more on what your doctor did when problems started and why how they treated? Thank you

My problems started about 5-7 days out… i’ll look normal for the first five or six days and I wore my compression 24 hours a day except when I showered. Then I developed a red splotch on the side of my neck which my husband thought was an infection that was on a Friday, so by the time I saw her on a Monday, the area was red and very swollen, but came back negative for an infection. The cycle continued for about three weeks and I was put on numerous antibiotics. Some were IV. Just in case it wasn’t infection but all the cultures that were sent out to various labs. All came back negative and there were no signs of infection. Aroma kept getting drained and kept coming back, but nobody would drain them except for the doctor who did the procedure. Looking back they should’ve put a drain in the first sign of fluid in my opinion. I battled this until they put a drain in my neck about a month later I wore the drain for 72 hours, and it finally stopped.

Thank you for sharing. My experience sounds very similar. I’m four weeks out and also started about a week after, with a spot and thinking infection. Then the swelling on both sides of my face. Just had one side drained. Plan on sharing with my surgeon.

I wish I could add some more pics, it sounds so similar! Good luck! Maybe ask about lymphatic massages and ask about scar tissue! My doctor is still “puzzled” about what happened. Please keep in touch, let me know what happens and how you’re doing.

I think the far right picture looks great. Was that post, or prior to?

That pic is the "before" pic taken one month prior to the procedure.
