- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

I'm 48 years old, fair skinned, grew up in So Cal at the beach and have been a user of sunscreen my entire life from pure necessity. I had Total FX to improve skin tone and texture while softening wrinkles. I went into the laser with a bit of apprehension as I was not disappointed with my aging up to this point and had read mixed reviews. As Dr M's nurse Susan said, "There's a lot of trust when it comes to laser." This is two-fold as you're having a powerful treatment with it's own inherent potential dangers and the long term results take time to fully realize. Because I trust Dr. McCormack and her staff, I decided to give it a whirl.
I had the topical cream, a Valium and a couple of pain pills. Rosie and Susan work in tandem on the procedure and it was painful. Because of their training and comfort level with the laser, they are aggressive in their treatment which I think you want if you're going to do it. I had scarring on my upper lip and lip lines that they went after and yowzer it hurt. The treatment lasts about a half hour and the end is near was in the forefront of my mind. The minute it's over, the pain is Over.
I had the normal heat for two hours afterwards but it was not unbearable. I came home with a red dotted face but no blood.
Day 2 red dots increased as did swelling
Day 3 swelling increased
Day 4 swelling increased and I'm wondering WTH I did to myself and it better be worth it. Called a girlfriend who had it done and she said the WTH feeling was normal and she was depressed for two weeks after she did it thinking she'd ruin her face. She was three months out and loved her results.
Day 5 Craziest thing. Swelling subsided, new pink skin coming through and I was pretty normal looking except for my coloration.
I had originally scheduled to have this procedure when my husband was going out of town for five days. He was horrified by the entire process and had his trip not been cancelled, he would've left day 1 and come home day 5 and thought nothing of it.
I am three weeks out and my skin keeps getting better and better as noted by my 14 yo daughter who says it at random. I still slather on cream/sunscreen and avoid sun on my face. I still get dry and tight and slough a bit. This could be partly due to my naturally normal to dry skin and arid weather in Reno.
As for what I wish I knew beforehand, I felt fully informed. I freaked right before my procedure as I felt I didn't know enough about Rosie's background operating the laser. In my meeting with Rosie to discuss the procedure, nerves got the best of me and I didn't register what I was hearing. I called the office and was immediately told Rosie's qualifications and was asked to come meet with Rosie again to put my mind at ease. I didn't need to meet with Rosie but I was impressed by Gina's desire to do whatever it took to accommodate me in freak out mode.
