Sleeve for me

Almost normal

$13,000
Starting to feel pretty good. I'm losing weight at a good rate. I have lost 7 pounds since after surgery. I have one more week of broths and protein shakes. I have soups sometimes. Anywhere between 4-10 bites and I'm full. It's nice not to have to stuff myself to feel satisfied. I'm very happy to have this surgery done.

It sounds like your surgery was a success and you are recovering well! Im happy for you!
Thank you! How are you doing?
I am frustrated by waiting for the process to begin. I have insurance now that will pay for my surgery however I have to endure the insurance nonsense. I am in the process of completing more medical tests to submit to the insurance company. I have to prove the surgery is medically necessary, The insurance company is then going to deny the request initially and then appeal process begins. Letters from my doctors will have to be submitted in order for the decision to be overturned. Its a colossal waste of time. How are you doing? I hope your success with your surgery has continued!

The hospital suitcase

Any suggestions of what to pack for the hospital and for the first few days after surgery?

I over packed. Friends here mentioned ChapStick, a pillow to press against your abdomen on the ride home, a compression tank top, gas X strips, ect... All I needed was the comfy clothes and a bottle of water in the car... I had no other needs. Everyone is different. : )
:) thanks again Auburn1!
Thinking of you today, March 6th...hope you are out of surgery and all went great! Please keep me updated!
Surgery went great, I was the last one that day. It was uncomfortable when I woke up like an elephant sitting on your chest. Today is the my first day after and I'm up and walking. I have been taking my pain pills as well as gasX. The more waking I do the better I feel. Everything is what to be expected after a major surgery. Two more weeks of liquid diet .
Also I was down 5lbs before surgery by doing one week pre-op whey protein shake for two meals a day a one meal with a small protein and green vegetables. I can't wait for Monday I will see if I dropped anymore also they do an IV vitamins therapy at that time. Excited about that!
Glad your surgery went well! Keep me posted!

Pre-op diet

Doing this pre-op diet now... I'm excited because it means the day is getting closer. First day wasn't bad at all and I didn't mind the taste of the protein shake. It was however incredibly hard after I was at work and seen that a well meaning co-worker had brought in Russell Stovers s'mores. But I toughed it out while it mocked me for 12 hours! My job has been pressuring me about taking vacation and has been a mess to the point I told them I was having surgery and it was non of their business. I'm sure they will figure it out later.. But oh well. My regular Doctor actually called Dr. Umbach and went over his concerns with his office. The whole staff in Las Vegas has been wonderful and very helpful. I feel very comfortable having him do my surgery and would not ever think about having surgery done outside of the United States. I thank god for this opportunity to set my life on the path that I will be living a fulfilling life and not one that will be hindered with being unhealthy! I wish you all luck on your journey and I am so thankful to be sharing it with all of you! Good luck and keep me updated on how it's going!
