My first impression walking in the door of Berks Plastic Surgery, was that it was very nice, clean and up to date looking, including the consult room I was then taken into. I didn't have any long wait times. During my consult I got to meet with Stephanie who was soo much fun and immediately made me feel comfortable, like I've known her forever. She helped me try on different size implants & gave me her honest opinions, and even took pictures for me so I could take them home to show my husband. I was back and forth between the 385cc and 415cc. But after Stephanie explained that she does hear women say they wish they would've went just a little bigger, it helped me decide on the 415cc. I also got to meet Dr. Reedy that day, he did an exam of my breasts and took some measurements and asked me what look I was trying to achieve. I told him I was looking to get back to the nice full C/D cup size when I was breastfeeding my kids. I was a B cup most of my life, and then after kids I actually went to an A cup. He explained thoroughly what kind of implant would give me the look I was going for and how he'd go about doing it. Right away I felt like he was someone I could trust and made me feel comfortable. He explained the differences between the saline and silicone implants, and after feeling them and comparing one in each hand, I chose to go with silicone. By the end of the consult they both had me extremely excited to finally get this done, and I knew this was the place I wanted to have do it. Their surgery suite is on site which is also nice since we wouldn't have to drive to a whole new place on surgery day. I put down my deposit and scheduled my pre op and surgery appointment that day. When I came back for my pre op appointment I got to meet with Andrea who was also very nice. She took my vitals and went over a whole packet of information so I was aware of all risks, what I all had to do before and after my surgery, and what to expect during the healing process. She gave me a packet to take home with all the info for me to read over again. She also took some before pictures. I then got to meet with Tammy, who was very sweet. She helped me try on more implants just to be completely sure it was the size I wanted to still go with. I then got to meet with Dr. Reedy and Stephanie again, who also went over some things in the packet, and answered all the questions I had. Once we were definitely in agreement that I would be getting "415cc Natrelle Inspira Full Profile Silicone implants under the muscle with an inframmatory incision", he assured me they would take good care of me, which was extremely comforting to hear. I also had to bring my almost 2 year old daughter with to this appointment and everyone was great with it, she also got some stickers on our way out which made her day. Surgery day I was more excited than nervous I believe. My husband brought me and when they came to take me back we said our goodbyes and he went off to shop at Home Depot of course haha until he'd get the call to come pick me up in 1 1/2-2 hours. It's also in a great location that there are plenty of places very close by that loved ones can go to and shop or eat instead of just sitting in the waiting room. Michele was the nurse who took me back and explained what was going to all happen in the next 2 hours, and gave me a gown, booties to put over my socks and a cap to wear. She was soo nice and fun! Dr. Reedy was next to stop in and we confirmed the type of implant again and he made some markings for surgery, and again assured me how great this was going to look. The anesthesiologist came in after him and asked me a bunch of my history questions and explained what would happen when we got in the OR. They took me back and it all went soo quickly from there, no time to get nervous which was perfect. I had a chance to go to the bathroom, then they had me go into the OR lay down on this extremely comfortable warm padded table, and tucked me in with a blanket and leg massagers, put on some good music, started my IV, and then put the mask on to help me go to sleep, while a very sweet nurse held and rubbed my hand until I was out (wish I knew her name) thank you so much for that! Next I knew I was being moved over to another bed, woke up to hearing them compliment my long hair when they took the cap off which was nice haha Then I got to go hang out with Michele again and have some nice conversation. I honestly didn't have any extreme pain like I was preparing myself for. I felt more pressure than anything, but on a scale of 1-10 I'd say maybe a 4? It was very tolerable, my mouth was just really dry but she gave me sips of water right away. I also had a bag of supplies waiting in the truck since I did lots of research of what others recommend for right after surgery and the ride home, so I had a little ginger ale and crackers on my way home. I then took my muscle relaxers & pain pills once I got in the truck and had a little food in my stomach. We got home around 2p, I took some other meds I needed to take & got comfy in the recliner. They wanted me to do some arm stretches 3 times an hour while awake, they weren't too bad, I had more of the feeling like I did 1000 push ups. So I kept telling myself it was that good post workout hurt haha I was awake all day surprisingly, ate crackers, drank lots of Gatorade and water. I had a slice of pizza later on and then got pretty tired around 9p so took some of my last meds and passed out for the night. I did wake around 2am feeling just a little uncomfortable so took some more pain pills and fell right back to sleep. The day after surgery has been great, it's much easier to move my arms, pain is very minimal. It's been about 6 hours since I took any pain pills. I did set my alarm and take my muscle relaxers around 5am. I've been icing a little here and there, just to possibly help with any bruising or swelling, and it does feel good too. I'm anxious to get more of a peek today at my post op appointment. Post op appt was great, the nurse was impressed with how well I was moving around, she took the bandage off and I was able to stand up and look in the mirror, loved them already even though I know there's lots of swelling to go down and for the shape to change, but they were perfectly even. After we put my bra back on we left, and me and my husband went to have some lunch. He had a few stops he wanted to make, but after awhile I just stayed in the car to sleep, the walking around did wear me out. A week after surgery I had an allergic reaction to one of the meds. I broke out in large, hot itchy hives head to toe. I ended up going to an urgent care clinic since it was a Saturday and that's what the doctor on call at the office recommended. I was a little disappointed I couldn't just go to their office or have something called in to my pharmacy. The urgent care gave me some meds that cleared it up within 2 days luckily. The hives were more annoying than any of the surgical or healing part in this whole journey, the itching drove me crazy. I didn't know I had a sulfa allergy, but I know now! I do definitely recommend talking with them about a plan if there's an emergency or a situation like mine, just so you can plan ahead. Around 2 weeks after surgery I started getting sensation back in my nipples here and there, it would hit me quickly & they would feel extra sensitive and almost like an itch under the skin. It wasn't painful but just lots of strange sensations during the nerve healing process. It usually felt better to gently rub them or to open my bra for a little and give them a break when possible. 3 week post op appt went great. Dr. Reedy showed me some exercises/massages he wanted me to do and gave the okay to wear a sports bra at night & an underwire during the day. He was very pleased with the progress, as am I. I just had my 3 month post op and all is going perfect. He was very happy with the progress and the scar healing. I have full feeling back in my breasts except for part of my one nipple, it is a bit numb feeling. He said it may or may not eventually come back, but I did my research before surgery and always knew it was a risk. I still have no regrets, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat if I had to. I never imagined the results would be this amazing, there's nothing I would change about them, my confidence has been boosted soo much, and I really needed this gift for myself! 6 months post op and I am still in love with my new breasts! I've heard about the "boob greed" -when girls wish they've gone just a little bigger. I do occasionally get that, but as soon as I look back at my before picture I feel completely happy again, the difference is amazing. It is now 9 months post op and I'm still happy as can be. I'm very excited for my 1 year post op appt coming up in Feb/Mar so I can tell Dr. Reedy and staff how much of an amazing job they did!! I had my 1 year post op appt and everything went great. I did mention how my scar got a little burnt when I forgot to cover it while tanning a few weeks ago. He said it didn't look too bad but did say it's more raised then he would like. He recommended an adhesive silicone gel sheeting and/or laser to help fade it, so I am considering trying the combination of the two to help get it to disappear. It was great to see Dr. Reedy and the staff, it's always fun to go in and tell them how happy I am with everything. Highly recommended!!
