Two Words: Saved me. I was victim to 4 failed hair transplants beginning at the age of 19. First one was strip, last three were misleading and unethical FUE sessions (of which the last 2 were attempted repairs by that same clinic) before I had my fifth procedure with Dr. Umar. I was left with a severely depleted head donor, no self esteem whatsoever, and with a complete loss of hope. My last procedure/attempted repair was in 2011. When not working, I literally spent 5 years of my life researching for a possible solution. Most of the time I spent wondering how I would accept my situation and move forward. I was close to giving up. That changed when I came across Dr. Umar in 2012. I saw one of his results on a hair loss forum, and was blown away to say the least. However, based on my past experiences and manipulations I concluded it was too good to be true. What peaked my interest even more is that Dr. Umar utilizes beard and body hair in conjunction to the traditional head hair that may be available. This was literally my only hope because after 4 botched procedures I was left with a over harvested donor supply. As I continued to do more research, and watch more of his patient results, optimism and hope gradually expounded within me. I finally decided in November of 2015 to have an in person consultation with Dr. Umar at his clinic in Redondo Beach. The difference was apparent to me as soon as I met Dr. Umar. Unlike other clinics, and with other doctors where they glance at you and tell you this is how much you need and the price you need to pay, Dr. Umar spent over a hour with me in the consultation room assessing my hair, donor supply, and answering each and every one of my questions I had. He did not mention price once during this whole consultation! He made it clear to me what I can do with the hair and body hair I had to work with. Most importantly he was extremely professional, eloquent, and unlike the "used car salesman" you come across various clinics, he was very honest and transparent about my situation. Even more impressive is the fact that he mentioned to me that he works only on one patient per day, and can do no more that 1500 FUE's per day to ensure optimal growth and density. This is important because the last 3 procedures and repairs I had at another clinic claimed that they transplanted 4000 FUE's in one day. I had my procedure in January of 2016. It was a combination of the very little head donor I had left, and the abundant chest and beard hair donor supply I had. My procedure was 5 days long because as I mentioned earlier, Dr. Umar does not perform more than 1500 FUE's per day. My total graft count amounted to 6500. Each one of those days was worth every single penny I paid, and the experience was pleasurable. Dr. Umar and his staff were so accommodating and understanding of my needs as a patient. I haven't conversed with someone so educated, cultured, and genuine as Dr. Umar. However, his meticulousness and methodology were on full display. He is truly a perfectionist which gave me confidence. As cliche as it sounds, 18 months later I feel like a completely different person. I no longer have to spend a hour each day in front of the mirror applying toppik or other concealers. Compare how I looked before my procedure to how I look now, the difference speaks for itself. I had such a vast amount of skepticism after my procedure with Dr. Umar solely because of my past botched procedures. I had an intrinsic feeling that maybe something was systematically wrong with me, but each ensuing month Dr. Umar was receptive and reassuring to my insecurities because he is very familiar with "repairs". I have my final procedure this coming October with Dr. Umar to "complete my journey", and to make up for my lost youth. If anyone is considering hair restoration please use me as a case study, and an example of where proper due diligence can lead you. I can not thank Dr. Umar enough for what he has done for me. In this industry it is rare to find a doctor who prioritizes his integrity, and his/her patients' well being over monetization and the traditional hair transplant doctor "get as many in and as many out" mentality.
