WORTH IT$800

I just went for my first consultation last night and I'm excited to say the least! My case is a little different from most people on here. At a young age (around 10 years old), I experienced some trauma to my nose after falling off a bunk bed. It wasn't broken, so I never got surgery on it because I was so young at the time. Just two months ago, I was messing around with a friend and accidentally got hit right in the nose! Since then I've been experiencing difficulties breathing and my nose seems even more messed up than before!

I've always been super self-conscious about my nose. I hate it so much! After going to my ENT last night, I found out that I have a deviated septum, a close nasal fracture an turbinate hypertrophy. Geeze! Since I have all of these problems, my procedure is considered purely reconstructive, not cosmetic, so my insurance is going to cover it which is great. My doctor and I spoke about shaving off the bump and making my nose more feminine by curving it so it has a little bit of a slope. I'm going for my next consultation later this week and having my surgery in mid-May. I'm very nervous but so excited!

I'm excited FOR you! You're pretty already, and this is just going to help you shine! Make sure your doc is a rhinoplasty specialist and please let us know when you set your surgery date!

Thank you! He is board certified in plastic surgery, I was sure to check that since he worked at an ENT. I will! I'll know later this week but it should be mid-May.

Jessica, still be sure to ask if he's a rhinoplasty specialist. Ask how many noses he's done and to see his before and after photos (if you haven't already). I've seen several folks unhappy with their noses after going to ENTs for rhinoplasty. Which doesn't mean you shouldn't go to him, just be sure to ask LOTS of questions. I would even go on another couple consults to make sure he's the one for you. You only get one shot at rhinoplasty and if you ever have to go for a revision, it's infinitely more complicated.

Keep us posted!

I called the office about before and after photos and they said they couldn't release them due to patient confidentiality. I know he specializes in nose surgery and has done many reconstructive surgeries to fix fractures and deviated septums. I asked him about reshaping my nose to make it curve in more. He told me that from breaking my nose to fix the fracture and shaving it, the bump could be easily fixed and that changing the shape to have more of a slope was reasonable but recommended that I keep it straighter. I am going to call this week to find out just how much experience he has doing that specific kind of surgery. Thank you for the heads up though! I'll definitely be asking more questions.

The date is set!!! May 14th. I'm very excited but VERY nervous. I guess knowing that my doctor needs to break my nose in three different places to fix it makes me a little uneasy but I know it's going to be so worth it. I also found out my insurance is covering the entire procedure! I do have a $300 co-insurance fee and my deductible is $500. Still, for $800, sign me up!

I'm lucky because it came so cheap but trust me, not being able to breathe through my nose for a looong time was a price to pay!
